Members of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) community on Wednesday, 17th June, 2026, gathered to celebrate Professor Abidoye Gbadegesin of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, as he bowed out of active service with a Valedictory and Retirement ceremony. Delivering the valedictory lecture titled “How Safe is Motherhood with Assisted Reproductive Technology”, the Guest Speaker, Prof. J.A. Olamijulo, highlighted the enduring relevance of excellence in women’s health and medical education. He emphasized the importance of sustaining a strong culture of clinical quality, teaching and mentorship within the field, while calling for continuous improvement in maternal care practices and reproductive health outcomes. The ceremony also featured gift presentations and more goodwill messages in honour of the retiring professor as guests took turns sharing fond memories and expressing appreciation for his years of dedicated service to LASUCOM, LASUTH and the wider healthcare community.
