@daviddavidwoods@BonaguraESPN The majority of the PAC 12 won’t be able to contain SC athletes in an air raid scheme. Look at how much the conference struggles with Wazzu. The concern is how it will match up against other top tier programs. Oklahoma is doing just fine.
@InsideUSC Imagine being an offensive head coach, and your AD brings in a new OC with a completely different system with full autonomy. Helton should have just resigned. He isn’t allowed to do anything moving forward
@TheJasonKane@uscpsycho@gouxforever@chrismattmann The issue with spending small is new with Helton. He and his staff are getting paid what they’re worth. Sark was making over 4 million and was the highest paid hc in PAC 12 at the time. They bought out him and Wilcox at Washington as well. It’s about spending the money correctly
@MichaelCastFS We still don’t know the terms of Helton’s contract. The 15 million buyout is believed to be inaccurate. It’s apparently around 5 mill. Charlie Weis was all guaranteed money
@TheJasonKane@uscpsycho@gouxforever@chrismattmann My opinion about the relevance of the cons differs. That’s just my take. I think the narrative of USC football being a wasteland with the athletic department has been pushed too far. Yes, they’re awful. But still nothing is stopping them from making a splash hire if they desire
@uscpsycho@TheJasonKane@gouxforever@chrismattmann I’m not being combative. I just disagree with what you’re saying. This narrative that USC is a wasteland just isn’t reality. SC has always had the opportunity to make splash hires like KK, and still does. They just haven’t had any desire/tried in the past.
@uscpsycho@TheJasonKane@gouxforever@chrismattmann Two guys arguing about how awful coaching at USC and in college is, wtf? Do you guys realize KK has coached in college his entire career? Perhaps he enjoys this job since it’s what he’s chosen to do for a living...
@TheJasonKane@uscpsycho@gouxforever@chrismattmann I guarantee you that’s not any of the questions KK is asking. He has the money from Texas Tech. This is all about what is best for his career moving forward. He is young, and wants to be a hc again. Turns around the SC offense for a year and he can land as a hc the following year
@uscpsycho@gouxforever@chrismattmann You are actually comparing the national appeal of a good USC team to UCF. There is no value in brand by that logic. A blueblood program has little separation over a program with 2 seasons of success. It’s good you don’t work in network programming.
@uscpsycho@gouxforever@chrismattmann SC is coming off their worst season since 1957. When SC is having a decent season they play as much primetime games as any other program. Was Florida State getting great tv slots this year with their season? That’s what happens when any team has a bad year.
@uscpsycho@chrismattmann It’s surprising how inaccurately you view the USC brand. SC has administrative issues we all know that. Nothing you’ve listed is an issue other than obvious incompetence from the athletic administration. Why would KK care about that as an OC if he clearly negotiates his terms?
@uscpsycho@chrismattmann As if KK actually cares about the issues relating to the Pac 12/ Larry Scott. He sees an opportunity to dominate inferior talent to SC with his high octane offense if anything.
