Value strikes me as similar to love. Someone else making lots of it does not limit your ability to do the same. You are welcome to create as much love as you desire. Both likely require proof of work.
At independence, Zambia was near the top of Africa and Botswana was near the bottom.
Botswana kept property secure, kept the state from owning everything, and allowed private enterprise to drive growth. Zambia went deep into nationalisation and state control.
Over time, Botswana pulled far ahead.
Why?
Because economic growth comes from markets, stable rules, and letting people build wealth without the state standing in the way.
@johnonmain@jack@blocks I suspect it’s intentional, showing he wrote it, not AI. May start to see this more as people want to appear imperfectly human.
The concept of universal basic income is built on a depressing assumption:
That people are better off managed than trusted.
UBI does the opposite of empowering people; it pacifies them.
There's a better idea.
When the left accepts as a given that UBI policies are grounded in "compassion," they reveal an opinion of humanity so low that they expect nothing of people.
But that's not compassion. It's decline marketed as progress.
UBI assumes work is becoming obsolete and that the "humane" response is permanent dependency.
History shows us something very different:
When people keep what they earn, they don’t withdraw.
They build, invest, and take risks.
Instead of guaranteeing income disconnected from drive, we should guarantee something far more powerful, and far more sustainable:
The right to keep the fruits of your labor.
That’s the moral alternative to UBI, and the debate America needs to have.
My latest for @FoxNews below.

Result: In 2022–2023, the HIGHER a state’s COVID vaccination rate, the SHARPER the surge in excess deaths.
