Hot take: Mahjong compasses are crutches. While they have uses at teaching events, they should be replaced by a solid block of nondescript material, or with nothing, at tournaments. I've seen and heard enough over the years. We did this for rulers and racks, new struggle. 🧌

@MJEtosan The community at large has numbers to offer a range of "products", of which: amateur clubs, amateur study/practice sessions, amateur tournaments, then eventually Pro-Am events (WRL opens) and pro-tier leagues, ladders and tournies. Jumping between environments is really tough. 🧌

Small update: Troll's health scare has mostly passed. I will be out of commission until May 30, date at which I should be in Ottawa at the tournament. Can't confirm if staffing an active role, or spectating.

Playing with a (temporary) disability... Losing your voice changes so much in how you interact with mahjong as well as the players. People went out of their way to be kind to me: making tea, checking up on me, the euro meds. I hope to reciprocate more in the future. 💚🧌
