I asked our company Hive, "Hey, what's going on with AI in the DC" and it gave me this.
Perhaps it is accurate? Perhaps not.
Bottom line, if you want to chill out on all the AI talk do not join us in Mexico City on May 5th to the 8th 😅
Super productive if you're doing 6 figures + and running a location independent SaaS/Ecom/Services business.
We'll be doing a lot of AI shares, having fun, and 100% of the people you bump into will be full-time founders (all attendees go through application process). Large percentage doing 1MIL+ in turnover in the past 12 months and most everyone cuts the networking crap and just shares openly and exchanges ideas. Most programming revolves around conversations.
Come to Mexico City!
If you're an entrepreneur making 6/7 figures, there's no better group to join.
I've been in the Dynamite Circle for over a decade and it's changed my life.
It's like summer camp for online entrepreneurs - we takeover the hotel and have a blast.
I just booked my flights to Mexico City.
Our next members event is May 5-8.
(Our members: bootstrapped, location independent, Saas/Tech/Ecomm/Services). Almost 40% 1MIL+ in turnover in the past 12 months.
I'm expecting good food, good friends, tons of conversations, and lot's of gawking at what you are all doing with AI.
We're expecting 200 members to join us, and along with talking entrepreneurship in general I expect a lot of laptops open looking at AI workflows.
We've even extended the event an extra day to make time to build implementations together.
Looking forward to seeing many of you! (For those of you who are members, reg deadline is April 21st).
Our annual Dynamite Circle (DC) event in Bangkok continues to be a highlight of my year-- members fly from all around the world to hang out and talk business pretty much non-stop for a week.
Our members continue to grow, with over 100 7+ Figure businesses at the event this year (~ 330 members made the trip this year) while maintaining ownership, pursuing hobbies, sometimes the odd 2nd passport, and generally doing things on their own terms.
My favorite part about the group is how much of a helping vibe there is in the room.
Entrepreneurship is hard. Our typical conversation starter is 'what personal or business challenge are you hoping to solve this week.'
And dig in from there, often for hours....
It is also enormously useful in service businesses, and it should be looked at even if you're having to napkin it at smaller scales. We highlight it with our recruiting team every time we meet.
Contribution margin is probably the most important metric in Ecom.
It's also the most misunderstood.
I like to say contribution margin is the cash left over after all variable expenses.
Product costs. Pick pack ship. Ads. Merchant fees.
Some people include other things. Some don't.
That's fine.
What matters is you define it for yourself and track the same calculation month in, month out, year in, year out.
Here's what good looks like to me:
Under 10%: We have a real problem. Time to go back to the drawing board on unit economics, pricing, discounts, and fulfillment costs.
30%: This is the target. Solid foundation.
45-50%+: Actually bad. You're probably underinvesting in the business. Spend more on ads or change up your offer.
Use these benchmarks to orient yourself and figure out where to allocate your resources.
For those of you in the DC, heads up registration for our favorite annual event, DCBKK, opens on Tuesday, June 17th. Be sure to check out the forum to grab your spot.
For those of you who are entrepreneurs and are eager to nerd out with 100's of founders building fully remote businesses, consider applying to join us! The event is designed to be a (relatively) easy button to genuine conversations. It's a great time of year to get feedback, recharge your entrepreneurial batteries, and connect with others who are on a similar path.
It's also a damn good time. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of you there.
This weekend we're closing down applications to DC Accelerator, a program designed to help companies grow faster.
60+ companies have already applied, our team is excited about all the talented founders joining us.
We get started in June. If you're curious, book a call with us (link to info in bio).
