Everyone loves and talks about yield.

But the truth is, we don't always have a clear picture of what yield actually is, where it comes from, and where it leads.

And I think that has made a lot of us, myself included, not to pay a closer attention to it.

A few days ago, I bumped into STRC yield through @solsticefi , and i thought to take a deeper dive into how it actually works.

So, what exactly is STRC ?

STRC is a preferred stock issued by Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy).

Unlike MSTR, which is Strategy's common stock, STRC is a preferred security that pays holders a cash dividend. The rate can change.

Now, where does Solstice come in?

STRC isn't owned by @solsticefi .

Instead, Solstice built a YieldVault strategy around STRC called strcUSX.

And strcUSX is the first Solana-native STRC product with senior protection.

In simple terms, Solstice holds STRC in the strcUSX strategy and brings the cash yield generated from it onchain.

So, what happens if you actually want to put your USX into it?

The strategy comes in two forms: Senior and Junior.

Senior is paid first and has more protection, making it the more conservative option.

Junior takes the first loss, so it carries more risk, but also has more potential upside.

So you can choose the side that fits your own risk appetite.

You're not directly buying STRC yourself. You're putting your USX into a Solstice YieldVault strategy that's built around the yield generated by STRC.

And then there's the bigger picture:

USX → strcUSX → STRC → Strategy → BTC

The idea is that as more USX flows into strcUSX, Solstice holds more STRC and more of that cash yield gets brought into the system.

More strcUSX TVL could mean more demand for STRC.

If STRC moves back toward its $100 stated value, that would mean the preferred is getting closer to equilibrium.

And when Strategy has stronger capital markets support, it can continue doing what it's known for:

stacking BTC.

So the bigger thesis becomes :

USX → strcUSX → more STRC → healthier preferred → more BTC on Strategy's books.

For me, this is why yield deserves a closer look.

It's not just about seeing a percentage and asking, “how much can I actually make ? '"

It's also about asking :

Where is this yield coming from ?

What is supporting it ?

And where does that capital flow eventually lead ?

@solsticefi is taking an existing financial product, bringing its yield onchain through Solana, and giving people different ways to take that exposure.
