Teachers don't need to be told to remember their 'why.' They know their why. And it may be all that's keeping them in their job. What they need is affirmation, encouragement, and genuine support to keep that passion alive. Let's celebrate and uplift our educators every day.
"We have so many great ideas in schools that never make it to the central office because people do not feel comfortable sharing ideas with people that they are unsure will appreciate them.
When you are visible and approachable, you will be more likely to be able to tap into the wisdom and experience of those you serve."

School leaders planning that first in-service day:
1. Ditch the data - focus on people and real stories
2. Emphasize dialogue - keep logistics for email
3. Begin with trust - trust is everything
Build a team where every teacher feels valued and empowered
When meeting with a client, mentoring someone, or leading professional development for educators, I spend a lot of time talking about my past mistakes, setbacks, and failures - and the lessons I’ve learned from them.
I am not embarrassed to admit that I was fired at Dairy Queen after only a week on the job (I overly saturated the fries with way too much salt and I couldn’t figure out how to make a balanced soft serve ice cream cone with the cute tip at the top). I also lasted only two weeks at the Ground Round restaurant… followed by working at Marshalls for less than a month.
I was a three time failure at work before turning 17 years old. It is so important to teach and model tenacity, persistence, grit, determination, learning from mistakes, overcoming adversity, finding your calling, working towards your strengths, and having hope for the future.
Every successful person can tell you about their struggles, failures, and challenges. This is where some of our best learning occurs and these failures often happen right before our major successes. Let’s help make a safe environment that encourages educational risk taking, reflecting on lessons learned, and planning for next steps towards success!
What is a lesson you learned from a setback?

So proud of these 4 @summitbees and so grateful to their parents for making the trek to Cleveland, especially with the wild weather. Days were added to trips and snow day fun was missed so that these young musicians could sing in their 1st All-State choir! @FHSDMusic@FHSchools
Our final Summit Spotlight is on these three wonderful ladies who feed our students every day! Our food service staff serves breakfast and lunch with a smile! 🥗🍕@FHSchools@TheRin108@SummitPTA
