The disrespect shown towards Sir Jim Ratcliffe from some quarters is remarkable.

This is a hugely successful businessman who in 2019 paid an estimated £110 million in tax, making him the 5th biggest taxpayer in Britain.

INEOS, the company he founded, employs around 4,000 people across the UK.

He has built businesses, created jobs and generated enormous economic activity.

Government should be making far greater use of people with that kind of real world business experience.

Parliament already has far too many career politicians such as Zara Sultana who have achieved nothing outside of politics.
