“A session on the use of science and diplomacy to save corals reefs looked at how climate change, pollution, and other human activities degrade these vital ecosystems.” (GESDA)

@trsc_org@EPFL https://t.co/wwNwrnOaM7
Red Sea corals, also known as "Reefs of Hope": read (in French) the @ClubDiploGE column in this month's @Ageficom, written by Prof. Anders Meibom, Director of the TRSC at @EPFL.
Thanks to the Club for its invitation.

Open until September 2 only, but we’ll find other occasions to celebrate science diplomacy in favour of Red Sea corals in Geneva soon! Hopefully once again in partnership with @ClubDiploGE and as always with the support of @SwissMFA.
The @GENetwork is at the opening of the exhibition “Coraux de mer Rouge”!🪸
With words of opening by Amb. of #Djibuti & of @EDA_DFAE, & representatives of @ClubDiploGE & @EPFL, the exhibition showcasing the fragility of these species is open on Quai Wilson until 6 Sept.
Thanks to you all dear @epflENAC colleagues for your presence on that wonderful occasion not only bridging #science and #diplomacy but also #Lausanne and #Geneva in this collective effort in favour of the “Reefs of Hope”. With the support of @SwissMFA
Lovely event organised by the @trsc_org and the @ClubDiploGE, on the Red Sea Corals Bridging science and diplomacy in favor of the "Reefs of Hope"! 🐡🤿
Super proud of our @epflENAC researchers Anders Meibom and @devistuia for their amazing work! 👏🏼
If you happen to be in Geneva, don’t miss the photo expo at the lakeside about our expedition to the Red Sea. You will learn about corals 🪸 and the hard work of the team, including @josauder
A wonderful effort of science for diplomacy! @trsc_org@EDA_DFAE@EPFL_en@epflENAC
Thxs to🇨🇭Ambassador to 🇩🇯 Pietro Mona - and @EDA_DFAE for making it possible for TRSC to have such a privileged meeting with Swiss Federal Concillor @ignaziocassis in Djibouti and to update him the @EPFL-based initiative he launched 5 years ago in person.
Congratulations @josauder for your achievement and such a groundbreaking innovation. Clearly a source of pride for you and @devistuia at @EPFL, and a critical tool for TRSC in the Red Sea as part of Swiss science diplomacy. @EDA_DFAE
Towards real-time 3D mapping of coral reefs with deep learning using only videos from cheap cameras, now published in Methods and Ecology and Evolution!
In short, we propose to use 3D mapping entirely driven by deep learning.
An artificial intelligence developed at EPFL can produce 3D maps of coral reefs from camera footage in a few minutes. It marks a leap forward in deep-sea exploration and conservation capabilities for organizations like the Transnational Red Sea Center.

What a 5th anniversary! Celebrated at the @univdjibouti with Federal Councillor and head of @EDA_DFAE@ignaziocassis, Minister of Higher Education and Research Nabil Mohamed Ahmed & local partners, to celebrate the scientific collaboration between TRSC @EPFL and Djibouti.
We are at the @epflENAC research days, presenting our learned SfM system to monitor coral 🪸 reefs in the #redsea
