New: In dozens of cases ProPublica reviewed, judges found that some doctors working for these companies engaged in “selective readings” of medical evidence and “shut their eyes” to medical opinions opposing their conclusions. https://t.co/91NR9EO1Ax
"[AIDS] is not being caused by a virus. It's not a virus... These people are dying because of 'poppers'... they were people who were part of a gay lifestyle... "
"This is not a viral disease, but it's a disease that is environmental."

Suppose you believe that tariffs are fully paid by foreigners.
Then who do you think is going to pay for all the foreign tariffs that are levied in retaliation for the US ones?
The most dangerous grift in ophthalmology right now is “glasses are harmful.” People that claim diet, exercise, and a 10 part instructional webinar can help you live spectacle free! No. Stop it.
It’s not a big deal for most adults. They will lose some money before realizing that no amount of exercise and bull testicle consumption will fix their presbyopia.
But those same adults have kids. If young kids don’t get the glasses they need, their brains won’t develop normal vision. I’m talking permanent vision loss. I have seen it happen. It’s awful and entirely preventable.
Pharmacy benefit managers act as middlemen overseeing prescriptions for millions of Americans to reduce drug costs. A New York Times investigation found they charge steep prices for patients, employers and the government. Our reporter explains how. https://t.co/vEwmFFI2Ou
this is so funny.
rich liberals in Vancouver who have been protesting for land be returned to Indigenous people are now upset because one of the city's last plots of underdeveloped land was sold to local tribes and they're razing it to build an ultra-high density condo project.
One would hope that increasing Medicaid reimbursement would extend more broadly! Difficult to maintain expert care for all Minnesota as seen with Mercy Hospital Peds closure.
Ah yes by all means, let’s ban tiktok over a hypothetical security risk while ignoring the actual security breach dumpster fire burning down healthcare.

Oregon is moving to stop private equity from owning doctor's offices.
A bill to end corporate-owned medical practices has passed Oregon Senate health committee and the Oregon house.
Now it needs to pass the Senate, and get the Governor's signature.
Update: @Cigna after a peer to peer review @Cigna denied my request. It was denied by a family medicine practitioner who has never in their life treated a patient with leukemia. In what world are we living here? @Cigna is this how you treat your patients? Really? Do better!!
If you didn’t believe me when I said that the loss of ERAS revenue is an existential threat for the AAMC, take a look at this ‘not for circulation’ e-mail they sent to medical school deans, urging them to keep program directors from switching to another application system.

Today's example showing why insurance reform is needed:
patient w/vision threatening inflammatory eye disease & psoriatic arthritis, only controlled by methotrexate + infliximab. Patient's new insurer required new auth (delaying the med, now patient's disease is active again) 1/2
@Aetna denied a total hip. Peer to peer told me to get advanced imaging to get surgery approved.
So I ordered MRI and they just denied the MRI.
Honestly - this is like a @DGlaucomflecken skit.
Spoke to the “peer” @AnthemBCBS provided today, who was a pharmacist with no speciality training in oncology. She refused to approved my request to start my patient at a lower dose. They said there is no oncologist I can talk to, which seems illegal. #reformpriorauth
