🐥: Honestly, back then... well, Hoseok-hyung and I talked about this just the two of us, but I got really emotional and surprised. I don't know what it is, but...
🐨: My tears were welling up.
🐥: Yeah, holding our national flag and having them sing Arirang for us... I don't know why, but it really hits you. I'm so thankful.
🐱: Everywhere you go, seeing the Korean flag is just crazy. It's wild, it feels unreal.
🐨: Our ancestors would be proud.
🐿️: Yesterday, during Diplo's set...
🐨: Yeah, I saw you out on the floor.
🐿️: I was watching from the floor, and our fans were holding up the Korean flag and those traditional fans (buche).
🐹: A lot of people brought those traditional fans.
🐥: Just seeing them hold up our flag... it makes you feel a certain way. It's hard to describe.
🐨: It's fascinating.
🐹: There were so many people wearing Hanbok, too. I saw them everywhere. And people dressed up like aliens, too!
🐿️: True, true. And people wearing masks of Namjoon’s face from the Persona trailer.
🐿️: Man, there's a lot of creative stuff lately. And what was it? That one outfit from our old fan meeting... the striped red kids' clothes?
🐰: Ah, yeah, yeah!
🐨: There are so many people dressing up like that. I really think love is amazing.
🐨: Right now, honestly, regarding all the members... one of the things I think is our current strength and weakness—well, actually, it’s a strength—is that all the members are very careful. They are very considerate of one another. Because nobody wants to break this huge... this huge and very close relationship, everyone is extremely cautious. If a member expresses that they dislike something even a little bit, everyone tends to try and respect that.
🐨: But the problem is, because of that, we can never narrow things down to just one decision. Like, maybe two people don't want to do something, four people think it’s fine, and one person doesn’t really care and says they'll just go along with whatever the others choose.
🐨: Because of this, even before getting discharged from the military, I had a hunch that the entire process—from making the album, releasing it, putting on concerts, and doing the tour—would start and end with how we make these decisions. And that hunch was right, in the end. So, out of the tracks we had from that pre-session, we weeded a few out…
🐨: The song 'Body to Body' was originally supposed to be titled 'Body on Body.' If I remember correctly, it was a song with a very sexual nuance, like 'I need somebody on body.' You get the general vibe…bodies overlapping and all that. So it was a pretty sensual song.
🐨: Of course, it's not like we can't do sexual songs anymore; after all, we are in our 30s now. However, I just felt that putting out a highly sexual song right now without a clear reason wasn't the right direction for us.
🐨: So, I thought about 'Hand in Hand'—the theme song for the 1988 Seoul Olympics by Koreana…and shifted the concept to 'Body to Body,' playing on the idea of holding onto each other's bodies instead of just hands. I really wanted it to become an anthem.
🐨: There was a lot of debate in the documentary about whether or not we should include 'Arirang' (to sample the folk song). Since some of the context was edited out, it might look a bit sudden, but after listening to it for the third time, I finally understood the reasoning behind it.
🐨: We had been listening to the version without 'Arirang' for a long time, so when it was first added, it felt a bit unfamiliar. Some people might even look at it and think, 'Isn't this trying too hard to push forced Korean patriotism (Gukbong)?' To be fair, that's a perfectly valid perspective.
🐨: But ultimately, when you think about it in the context of live concerts, that part hits differently. Seeing so many international fans waiting for that exact moment and singing along to a traditional Korean folk song perfectly... that is not a scene you can just artificially manufacture or stage.
🐨: I actually really like the GIF of that moment. J-Hope is dancing and grooving excitedly right next to me, while I'm standing there looking deeply serious and thinking to myself, 'Oh man, this is huge. We might be in trouble.'
