Body to Body single handedly wins the narrative battle for carrying the main textual content for Album Of The Year. i was reading The Odyssey by Homer today, and i couldn’t stop thinking about the opening track of the album ↓
Just as Odysseus spends a decade fighting to return to Ithaca, refusing the immortality offered by Calypso; BTS used Body to Body to plant their flag back in their cultural home after global military enlistment and hiatus.
In Homer’s The Odyssey, nostos is not merely the physical act of traveling home; it is an arduous psychological and spiritual battle to reclaim one's rightful identity, sovereignty, and legacy after prolonged exile.
I compared it to BTS's Body to Body from the ARIRANG album, this framework reveals a profound parallel between Odysseus's epic journey and the group’s return to their musical and cultural roots.
Ithaca is Odysseus's north star. It is a rugged, harsh island, but it is uniquely his. His entire identity is tied to its soil, his family, and his duties as king. The foundational sample of the traditional folk song Arirang acts as the musical Ithaca. ‘Arirang’ is Korea's unofficial anthem of resilience, separation, and reunion.
Upon returning to Ithaca, Odysseus finds his home overrun by suitors trying to usurp his place. He must strip away his disguises, endure physical trials, and string his old bow to reclaim his throne. similarly, Returning from a mandatory military enlistment and extended hiatus, BTS steps back into a shifting music industry. B2B serves as their trial of reclamation. They assert that their time away did not weaken their bond to their heritage or their dominance over their musical kingdom.
reason why i said it wins narrative is b/c this isn’t the only time i related this track to a chapter of homecoming. its become a universal human experiences of a long, painful separation, a subsequent “rebirth,” and the eventual joy of a grand reunion.
Only BTS could have referenced
Tupac, Britney Spears, Rakim, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, independence activist KimGu and a 600 year old Korean folk song all in one album and still have it sound 100% cohesive.
Another reason why Arirang is Album of The Year.
GENTE si ELIMINAN/CIERRAN su cuenta de LAST FM el día de hoy, este se estará eliminando definitivamente el día en el que BTS anuncio oficialmente el nombre del fandom "ARMY" (9 de julio) que divertido
It's an urge for everyone to close their accounts on lastfm and cancel if you've the subscription on the given platform! We're not going to give any heed to antis on any platform!!!
don't use pinterest as a source for bts pics :) esp if you're making fan merch / concert packs / cupsleeve items :) it's mostly ai and if you can't trace the source for something, don't fucking use it
maybe it’s just me but I really appreciate unconventional lead singles that trust the listener instead of chasing short form trends. Berghain and SWIM are great examples. Any other 2026 releases that deserve credit for taking risks?
In this fast-paced century I think most of us have forgotten that music isn't just for the trends. Have you really dug deep into the meaning behind their music? Here's how Global Icons like Beyoncé, BTS and Bad Bunny are keeping their heritage alive by sharing it with the world.
