no medal could never measure what kaori sakamoto has given to this sport. she has carried the weight of expectations with quiet strength for 4 years, skated with a heart wide open, and shown time and time again what strength and resilience looked like.
a legend of our sport 🤍
kaori sakamoto — 3x world champion, 6x national champion, 4 olympic medals, one of the greatest skaters that we have ever seen. a wonderful person and competitor. kind, generous, funny, brave. she has made figure skating a better place.
THANK YOU 💛✨
gold or not, kaori's GOAT status has already been solidified and nothing will ever take that away from her. thank you for sharing your greatness with the world queen 🫶
What an awful message the sport of figure skating just sent to sexual abuse survivors and victims, and parents and kids who want to participate in a safe sport. Column coming…
But you know what, she did all that only 5.5 months after a freaking c-section and having gone through pregnancy. I'm super proud of her. I wasn't expecting her to place top 3 in either event anyway. I hope she's proud of what she was able to do. And don't rush that quad please.
Bruh, even with bad translation I knew you could only do one sequence in that final round. So, not sure which of the two coaches is to blame for this. But anyway, add back 4 2A's, replace 2A from the first SEQ with a 2T and they would've been 4th anyway (by a hair) so no biggie.
On second thought, fuck USFS. Seriously, fuck them. Give the third spot back, you don't deserve it. Give it to the guy who competes for Monaco, I forgot his name sorry. He's so much better than THAT other guy.
Happy for Max, that's all I'll say. I have nothing else good to say.
(As for the other 3 disciplines, there were no surprises so all good there, no complaints).
I mean, technically they haven't even announced anything yet but if they really are not flexible in how they select the team, if they really don't take the season and especially the one before into consideration, then there isn't much hope. Or any hope.
