Last night we honored our own Miwok Middle School’s Girls Cross Country team for winning the 2024 Middle School National Championships held in Louisville, KY. A proud moment for our district, city, county, and the great state of California! Congrats to our coaches and runners!
At the December 19 meeting of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board, Jasjit Singh was elected to serve as Board President, Tara Jeane to serve as 1st Vice President, and Chinua Rhodes to serve as 2nd Vice President.
SCUSD Board of Education approved a resolution recognizing October as Filipino American History Month. The Board presented a certificate of recognition to the Philippine National Day Association, an organization to empower, mentor, and provide leadership development for students.

At tonight’s Council meeting, I provided public comment opposing the city’s proposal to cut funding that allows youth K-12 to ride Regional Transit (RT) for free. Free RT helps children get to
and from school, helps them to embrace public transit, and supports a green future.
Last Thursday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new sports complex at Hiram Johnson High School. These new facilities for the baseball, softball and golf teams were made possible thanks to voter approved funds through Measure Q.
