I was given a special gift last week. A video that means a lot to me as the words have been repeated to me over the past two years, especially after tough losses.
It was meant to be private but I'd like to share it with you because it tells you my story.
Thanks @darren_cahill
Asking a classmate with special needs to be a friend can mean more than you can imagine. Teach your children about disabilities and the many ways we can help others.
Experts now say kids with tantrums and irritability may have disruptive mood dysregulation disorder(DMDD). Before a label try plenty of fresh air, a strict bedtime routine, good food choices, and firm discipline. Watch the difference.
Everything broken doesn't have to be completely fixed for us to be completely fine. We can be scared & brave & frail & unbelievably strong all in the same leap of faith.
Another school shooting last week. Parents, teachers, and fellow students need to identify early those with instability. Counselors and mental health professionals have to be alert for those with depression and anger and begin treatment. Awareness leads to protection.
The flu for this year has cough, runny nose, some fever, sore throat. It is an A H3N2 strain and the flu shot this year seems to be about 20% effective. Extra fluids, OTC fever and cold medicines, rest. More serious in young and very old. Best prevention is washing your hands!
When young children demand your attention let them wait a short time, calm down, then ask with a nice voice. Learning patience and respect for your authority a must for proper upbringing and discipline.
While some stress in early life is normal, children who have repeated exposure to neglect, violence, substance abuse, or parental mental illness have a higher risk of alcohol or drug use, obesity, and depression when older.
Some children have inherited a genetically based predisposition for being anxious. Overprotection by parents and teachers can further anxiety by limiting opportunities to improve emotional regulation on their own. Mindfulness, exercise, and counseling can also help.
God receives all the credit for getting me through hard times. He and He alone carried me through. #DearMom#P31OBS#TrustThroughtheTears https://t.co/fmgBCfr1HQ
