The National Regional Government of Tigray has accused Ethiopia's government of launching a new military offensive in Western Tigray, alleging that the government forces opened a new front from the direction of Shereri early Saturday.

In a statement issued on August 1 2026, the government of Tigray claimed that Ethiopia's government had intensified what it described as a siege, blockade, drone strikes, and the use of proxy armed groups against Tigray. The government asserted that the offensive represents a renewed attempt to invade Tigray even after the signing of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

Tigray government further accused Ethiopia's government of continuing military preparations and actions aimed at subjugating Tigray. The statement maintained that the government has, for years, committed international crimes against the people of Tigray and said the latest offensive is a continuation of those actions.

The statement urged the international community to closely monitor the situation and warned of the consequences of what it described as Ethiopia's government's renewed military campaign.

News: #TPLF accuses #Ethiopian government of Drone Strike, says attack caused casualties among Tigray forces and civilians

The #Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has accused the Ethiopian government of carrying out a #drone_strike on the night of 6 November 2025, saying the attack caused casualties among members of the Tigray forces and residents of the area.

In a statement released on Thursday, the TPLF said the strike marked “a dangerous escalation” that puts the Pretoria Agreement at serious risk. “This drone strike has caused casualties among members of the Tigray Army and residents of the area,” the statement read, calling the attack “a complete violation of the Pretoria Agreement.”

The group accused the federal government of “openly escalating to the violation of the Agreement,” alleging that it has been obstructing the accord’s implementation while carrying out covert military activities.

The federal government had not responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
