Assata Shakur has joined the ancestors 🕊️

She lived as a revolutionary, a writer, and a symbol of resistance against state oppression. From her days in the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army, to her years of exile in Cuba, she stood firm in the face of government surveillance, criminalization, and exile.

She passed away in Havana on September 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Even in exile, her name remained on the FBI’s most wanted list, and her life continued to spark debates on freedom, justice, and what it means to live unapologetically Black in a system built on anti-Blackness.

Her story is complex, but her courage is undeniable. She left behind words and lessons that continue to inspire new generations to organize, to resist, and to understand that liberation comes with sacrifice.
