Lieutenant Colonel Carew Reynell, from the prominent South Australian Reynell family, managed the family winery before enlisting in 1914. He served with the 9th Light Horse Regiment at Gallipoli, showed notable bravery, was promoted, and killed leading his men at Hill 60 in 1915
AUSTRALIA’S ENERGY GRID: HAVE WE GOT OUR PRIORITIES BACKWARDS?
If you deliberately set out to build an electricity system increasingly dependent on weather conditions, I suspect you’d end up with something resembling Australia’s current transition. Look at this morning’s AEMO snapshot:
🇦🇺 South Australia: −$15.46/MWh
🇦🇺 Victoria: −$7.51/MWh
🇦🇺 NSW: $118.73/MWh
🇦🇺 Queensland: $159.27/MWh
🇦🇺 Tasmania: $101.47/MWh
So it’s nearly $175/MWh separating South Australia and Queensland at the same moment this morning. And therein now lies one of Australia’s greatest economic challenges. In our pursuit of foolish net zero priorities, we’re progressively retiring a fleet of conventional power stations capable of providing large quantities of consistent, dispatchable electricity and replacing much of that generation with intermittent wind and solar. Wind and solar can generate remarkably cheap electricity when conditions are favourable but the wind isn’t always blowing, nor is the sun always shining. And Australian industry cannot simply shut down whenever the weather conditions are no longer favourable. The old set up wasn’t perfect, plants break down, require maintenance and have substantial operating costs but conventional generation provided a level of controllable output that wind and solar, by themselves, cannot replicate.
Now we’re having to build an increasingly complex combination of batteries, backup generation, interconnectors and transmission infrastructure just to maintain supply when renewable generation falls away. Somebody has to pay for all of it. The relevant comparison isn’t simply the cost of generating one megawatt-hour of solar electricity against one megawatt-hour of coal electricity, it’s the total cost of delivering reliable electricity, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. How does Australia expect to rebuild manufacturing, expand mining, attract data centres and develop energy-intensive industries without abundant, dependable and internationally competitive electricity? Energy isn’t just another commodity. It’s the foundation of virtually every productive activity in a modern economy. The countries that can consistently deliver enormous quantities of affordable energy will possess a formidable competitive advantage. They’ll have greater opportunities to manufacture, process minerals, attract investment and improve living standards. Australia has extraordinary energy resources and we should be asking whether our energy policies are making those resources more economically useful or unnecessarily expensive to access. Reliable, affordable electricity is an economic necessity for our country.
@AlboMP Is it only when your side cops it you take action?
The left and your supporters have been attacking ME and my children for approximately 12 months.
My worst crime? Exposing your mates @JEChalmers and @LucyHood when the lobbyists you ALL are familiar with Capetal, tried to ram the 24/7 @AustralianLabor backed plastic factory into Old Reynella.
The only lies are coming from you.
This is extremely difficult to accept. The charges against a 12-year-old accused of participating in the horrific group assault on Van Viet Truong weren’t withdrawn because prosecutors concluded nothing happened, they were withdrawn because prosecutors concluded they could not overcome doli incapax; the legal presumption applying to children under 14, by proving that this particular 12-year-old understood his alleged actions were seriously or morally wrong. Well, I certainly knew at 12 years old that violently attacking another human being was seriously wrong. I suspect most Australians will ask whether our law is setting the threshold for criminal responsibility in the right place. Van Viet Truong went to help another person and he suffered catastrophic injuries and died. His family deserves real justice.
Someone needs to check in on this party. The Australian Greens have now put public ownership of supermarkets firmly on the political agenda. Incredible to see in Australia I must say. Their own policy calls for a nationwide government-owned supermarket chain and today’s Green Institute proposal goes much further: $25 billion, compulsory acquisition of 200 Coles and Woolworths stores and hundreds of new government-run supermarkets. And they’re quite open about where the inspiration comes from; Zohran Mamdani’s publicly owned grocery-store model in New York. Australians absolutely deserve more competition and lower grocery prices. The serious debate now is whether we achieve that by making it easier for businesses, farmers and independent grocers to compete or by having Canberra spend billions of taxpayer dollars becoming a supermarket operator itself.
I would much prefer we cut the cost of energy by way of deleting our net zero adherence. Doing that would deliver significant cost savings right through our collective economy. Reducing costly net-zero obligations can lower compliance and energy costs for Australian producers, manufacturers and transport operators. That flows through the supply chain from the farm, to the truck, to the supermarket shelf very quickly.
Grant Stevens has been appointed South Australia’s 37th Governor. It’s an interesting appointment. Given the importance and independence of the Governor’s office, South Australians are entitled to know what selection process was undertaken, who made the recommendation and what criteria were used. Transparency around how senior public appointments are made matters a great deal; regardless of who is appointed.
I wish this young South Australian family every success imaginable. Bringing Balfours back, securing hundreds of local jobs and having a crack at rebuilding an iconic South Australian brand is certainly deserving of our support. But as many of us know, running a business in South Australia isn’t easy. Every dollar swallowed by expensive energy, unnecessary regulation and government-imposed costs is a dollar that can’t go towards another employee, better equipment, expansion or lower ticket prices for customers. That’s one of the main reasons I believe so strongly in One Nation’s approach: cheaper and more reliable energy, dismantling net-zero policies, reducing unnecessary red tape and backing local businesses, manufacturing and apprenticeships. Government can’t guarantee that a business will succeed and nor should it. What government can do is stop making it unnecessarily difficult to succeed.
I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the Balfours revival story and I hope they absolutely smash it. South Australia needs more people willing to invest, employ South Australians and make things here.
🚨Please read, This is a really good one, can’t make this shit up!!
You may have seen some posts today for The New Flip Out Trampoline park in Old Reynella?
There’s no coincidence it’s popped up on the community pages i’m blocked from, Let me show you why!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Here are your new owners of Flip out Old Reynella 🥳🖕🏻
This couple has consistently worked with the plastic factory developer for months and still is today.
Originally the only thing that drew me to B1 & B2 was that this couple and their mates kept negatively commenting on posts in the group against the plastic factory. These 2 fully grown adults also had fake profiles in my group.
They were going as far as telling people that stopping the plastic factory via protesting was a waste of time and to not get involved. (We did stop it, So you ate your words there Jo Jo..) 🤣
They were the ones first to share the public statements regarding the 24/7 Plastic Factory to the community. Especially the new home buyers in Hurtle Grove. The same new suburb that the same developer just sold 200+ houses in.
This Lady would first post the statement in the residents community group. Then after the rest of the community who’ve lived here for 40 years, plus me speaking on behalf of thousands of people seemed to find out last…
I have personally seen email chains where the CEO has contacted and sent information to her direct to share publicly.
I later learnt that their invested interest had something to do with it.
Back in Janurary, These people sent my friends partner a private text message on an encrypted device threatening to leak information publicly. The reason I know it was them? Because the residents of Hurtle Grove showed me screenshots on their community page the next morning stating we were harassing his wife because we called the number back from a phone box.. The same number we. got off Telstra after we got the call logs 🤣 Telstra also gave us her full (Real) name
This lot are Not very bright..
Anywho, The reason i’ve decided to share this today after 10 months? Is because now they are sending their children on Instagram to Harrass me and when I caught them out again publicly, they’ve threatened to come to my house.
I’m here waiting, Come Shannon and Jo and everyone else associated with you. You’re piss weak.
I gave them a warning to apologize and if not I would share publicly, They refused.
Have a good day and don’t forget to Boycott your local Flip Out!
Australian Labor Party Your mates?
South Australia Police Just to clarify, Did you do me for Menace and Harrass via a carrier service?
Have a look at these Jokers..
@PMalinauskasMP is it normal to have these sort of people attacking home owners on behalf of @AustralianLabor lobbied developers?

WOKE up Adelaide (Groomers)
This is why all parents must remain vigilant. These type of people are coming for your kids. They want you to be and think like them, you can see right here again.
Extremely dangerous attitudes to have around young minds. Especially children that aren’t your own.
As we’ve seen before, when you defend your own 4 year old child. Trans ACTIVISTS even arrive at kindergartens and primary schools to fight against you.
When you’re willing to chuck a skirt on and dye your hair blue, you really have to question the decision making abilities and ultimately their mental capacity.
After all, these people do vote for The Greens SA and Australian Labor Party, so something’s not right there already!

Déjà vu South Australia
Pirsa are taking it for necropsy
Tell me again what’s in the water @PMalinauskasMP ?
Whatever you think of Luke Poulton or the allegations before the courts, the level of personal abuse directed at him and his family since his arrest after an alleged incident in Nat Cooks office has been pretty extraordinary. Criticise someone’s conduct all you like; dragging their children into it is another matter entirely.
