“I can’t sit back and say, ‘Why isn’t anybody doing anything about this?’ when I am anybody.” — Ruby Welch
Ruby turned adversity into impact and partnered with AFP to take her advocacy further.
Change starts with one small step.
Have you or a loved one been denied housing as a result of a drug conviction? 🚨 We want to hear from you!
It might be because of The Thurmond Amendment – an old policy preventing some formerly incarcerated people returning home from rebuilding their lives. Help us undo this backward legacy. https://t.co/lH1motcXuN
RSVP for our Justice in 2025 state & federal priorities webinar! We’re not here to tell you to buckle up for 2025 and the next four years, we’re here to tell you: hop in — there’s work to be done and we need your help!

Honor the stories of https://t.co/DXgfP1Xk8F Justice Campaign Manager Ruby Welch and Empathy Network Leader Cynetra Freeman in the thoughtful article above ⬆️
I hate when I get interviewed by someone who has never changed a law, a policy, or a practice about what it takes to change a law, a policy, or a practice. There's always a chasm between their hypothetical and my reality.
Another day, another incredible Day of Empathy event, this time in Arkansas. We're constantly inspired by the community leaders and activists who show up and remind us that there are plenty of good people doing good work around this country.
Happy holidays from all of us at JLUSA!
