I used claude to build me a "Hey Siri" from scratch entirely on my M4 Pro MacBook
→ researched 10 algorithms via 4 parallel subagents
→ generated 43,594 training clips (18.6k synthetic positives + 10k negatives + 15k librispeech humans)
→ trained a 122 KB neural net on apple MPS
→ avg time-to-wake: 80 ms
→ 99% recall, 0.014% false-positive rate on real human speech
→ same model file runs in browser, electron, and react native

Controversial take:
Your productivity stack is the biggest threat to your productivity.
Notion + Todoist + Google Calendar + Slack + Linear + Gmail + Loom + Drive
Each tool is great individually. Together? They create a full-time job that has nothing to do with your actual work.
23 minutes to regain focus after switching apps.
10 context switches per day.
4 hours of recovery.
Every. Single. Day.
The problem isn't that you need better tools. You need fewer surfaces fighting for your attention.
One system. One dashboard. One brain that remembers everything.
That's what we're building → https://t.co/Xo9TtKKhbZ
We missed a time-sensitive email.
Not because we weren't checking. We were checking everything. Gmail, Slack, WhatsApp, Calendar, Linear all screaming for attention. Everything looked urgent. We were already exhausted.
That one missed email cost us. And it wasn't the email's fault, it was the noise around it.
That's when we decided: We need a system that understands what actually matters.
Not another app. Not another automation chain you have to babysit.
An AI that watches, remembers, and handles the invisible work you shouldn't have to do.

hot take: most AI tools made productivity worse.
They didn't remove work. They added a new inbox.
Now you have to prompt-engineer your way through tasks you used to just do. You're managing the AI instead of the AI managing things for you.
A real assistant doesn't wait to be asked. It handles the boring stuff before you even notice it piled up.
that's the difference between a chatbot and an assistant.
A personal assistant used to cost $50k–80k/year.
That meant only executives got one. Everyone else managed their own inbox, calendar, follow-ups, and task lists, all day, every day.
GAIA changes that. An AI that reads your email, manages your calendar, tracks your goals, and handles the repetitive work that drains your focus.
Open source, self-hostable, or hosted , it's your choice.
We're a team of 5 recent CS grads building this full-time. And we're just getting started.

Setting up a meeting shouldn't take 5 emails.
Yet it usually looks like this:
“Are you free tomorrow?”
“Friday works?”
“Morning?”
“Send the Meet link.”
We fixed that with GAIA.
Just say:
“Set a meeting with Aryan on the 23rd for 30 minutes for marketing planning.”
GAIA handles the rest.
Email. Calendar. Meet link. Done.

People asked why we open sourced GAIA.
an AI assistant with access to your emails, files, and calendar.
the answer is simple: you shouldn't have to trust us.
you should be able to check.

I told my AI to build me a Notion page that auto-updates with geopolitics news every hour.
It checked my workspace. Created the page. Pulled live news from BBC and Reuters. Set up the hourly schedule.
One prompt. No code. Under 2 minutes.

Unpopular opinion:
Your productivity system is the problem.
More folders = more things to file.
More labels = more decisions to make.
More filters = more rules to maintain.
Every system you add puts MORE cognitive load on you, not less.
The goal shouldn't be a better system. It should be no system at all.
We once watched a $10k deal slip away because a critical follow-up email got buried for 6 days. Newsletters, Slack forwards, endless CCs—we had filters, labels, the works... but nothing removed the noise.
That frustration is why we built GAIA: proactive triage that actually spots & handles the important stuff so you don't lose sleep (or revenue) over inbox chaos.
No more 'what if I missed it?'
