@1984_nate Considering the garments are worn by "good" and "evil" people and the evil people aren't thrown out, it's not about achievement, but attitude. IMO it's more like the "I never knew you" type moment. Thinking your in the God crowd but you don't really know him at all...imo
@FastChase@CherylSchatz I do try to imagine what a big swallow moment it will be for those who find out burning people alive was never his plan...yikes. Also, I wonder if the people Jesus never knew are the ones who think God's character could ever do such a thing? That's my motivation to speak up.
@FastChase@CherylSchatz I try not to give people a hard time about believing in ECT. Most do, or have done in the past. I just try to make my case or argument and work on the questions they have that I could/should have better answers for.
@CherylSchatz@FastChase It's scorcher this morning, going to have to dust off the bike for a ride. While eating my tuna on toast, I thought I would ask again the question you didn't respond to. Who put Jesus on the cross? Of all the evil in the world, who is worse, Man or Satan? But only one gets mercy?
@CherylSchatz@FastChase admire your zeal Cheryl. "There will be no death and no devil". Are you an Annihilationist? What happened to the unsaved and the devil and angels in the second death?
@CherylSchatz@FastChase .it should also be noted that indeed a big part of "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work." 1 John 3:8, So whatever damage you think the devil has done to humanity and nature, the question becomes, will Jesus succeed in destroying what the devil did?
@CherylSchatz@FastChase Just quickly, you are the one who said "the devil cannot change", I was simply stating an obvious conclusion if that were so. If you are now saying the devil can change, then the possibility exists that the devil can be restored along with creation..
@MercyBrew@1984_nate My point: "What do you have that you did not receive?" Faith is a gift. It's all God. The fact that at some point you succumb (as all will) to God's will is only a feat of God.
v.11 Circumcision (of the heart), done by Christ.
v.12 Whose baptism are we baptised into? Jesus'
@CherylSchatz@FastChase I guess I'll only ask one question, then head to bed. The devil and his angels did many terrible things. Who put God's Son on the cross? Who is worse?
@CherylSchatz@FastChase 1. Satan and angels aren't part of the salvation equation, but
2. They are part of creation, which is to be restored, and to reconcile all things, unite all things. I'm not going to pretend I know for sure, but I lean towards, and it wouldn't bother me for them to be restored.
@FastChase@CherylSchatz I don't know about all that. She has the majority view, and there is comfort in that. It's a view I held 25 years ago, a cultural ECT believer, but when I was introduced to all the passages that speak of the salvation of all, I dropped a lot of baggage and believed the Good News
@CherylSchatz@FastChase 🙂 Except most of Christendom doesn't believe "Jesus is making all things new", but believe there will be a place that will remain in perpetual death/sin, rotten souls burning for eternity in some lake of fire! I believe Jesus will make ALL things new, nothing left out, do you?
@CherylSchatz Bible: " Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for ALL people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for ALL people." Christendom: Condemnation for all? Yes. Justification and life for all? No. Over and Over and Over, ALL Saved.
@Jondaphemp ...and everyone will! The confession of "Jesus is Lord" by everyone is not a recognition of a title but of swearing an allegiance! "For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive." - (same all). God is billions of times better...and counting than Christendom teaches
@Jondaphemp I don't join the Calvin fight, but being all in with universal reconciliation, that is where I tend to jump in. A couple of decades ago, I joined the angel in declaring, "I bring you good news that will cause great joy for ALL the people." 11 ...a Savior has been born to you".
@1984_nate "to believe" what? That Jesus saved us, or that in believing we are saved?
There will come a time when everyone will "believe" and call Jesus Lord. Because Jesus saved everyone, it's only a matter of time before all will recognize it. Then the Father will be "all in all".
