Objectively proving it's in your best interest to be kind! Alt of a founder who's raised enough funds to know life can be positive sum if you're brave enough ๐ฑ
Theres a wonderful subset of people who are kind because they know its the right thing to do, but I suspect theres a much larger subset that will do anything they can to maximize personal gain. I want to convince the latter that its in their self interest to be kind aswell.
@CountJ0ecool Its an inevitable power law that the true, meaningful work gets abstracted away - if you're the "big boat company" what % of workers are actually welding together steel in a boat shape?
Instead of HR, supply and logistics, legal, etc.
"Systemantics" is a great read on this!
@visakanv The only thing that beats tit for tat is GENEROUS tit for tat, which is the "secret ingredient" to root out negative feedback loops (eg. revenge cycles)
@RokoMijic It's the ones with low Affect Empathy (visceral emotion) and high Cognitive Empathy (ability to model someone elses mind) that tend to land these spots.
Doesnt necessarily mean they're malicious - you could use these powers to convince people to abolish slavery or invade poland
@f4talStrategies The most electrifying and memorable moments of learning I've had almost always come from Peers.
Uni was no contest, professors were near meaningless in comparison to the ferocious rookies around me.
@RichardHanania If it really worked like that the US would have Carbon Tax by now.
Capital IS effective at supressing and diffusing attempts to change its course.
This arguement has merit, but I think mainly applies to educational and social institutions (unless Im misunderstanding something)
@C_Harwick The strongest balance btw is "generous" discriminators, meaning they always STRIVE for co-operation, but not completely unconditionally.
Same principle as GENEROUS tit for tat (takes over the board given enough time, persists the strongest)
Everything I know about economics and personal finance I learned from Neopets at age 8 by earning interest on my Neopoints which I placed in the Neobank.
Dispense with the concept of โscreen timeโ.
You are evaluating everythingโscreens, toys, books, content, education, etc.โas to whether it is agency-deadening bilge or an agency-enhancing affordance.
Use screens as an agency-enhancing affordance, not as a sewage pipe.
@credenzaclear2 You have to earn yourself something to be secure ABOUT - little pieces of confidence loot you carry around with you.
Achievements, fitness, overcoming a fear of something, progressing on am endeavour - all legit.
You have to put active effort in and the confidence will follow
@daniellellecco Also technology has a tendancy to provide a new environment for EXISTING social dynamics to play out (rather than fundamentally change them. Eg racism on the internet) meaning we tend to get bottle necked by social capacity for change more than anything else.
@Jason Fightr - Tinder but for fighting.
Stranger on Stranger violence is trending upwards and our app has first mover advantage in the market.
DM me for pitch deck/fighting under a bridge.
Once, an old man sat next to me at a pub and said "I hear the Beast from the East is returning..." with the gruffest british accent I'd ever heard, then turned away.
I was sure he was gonna give me a sword to slay it, but turns out it was the name the news gave a snowstorm.
Im on a quest to find empiric justifications for "being Kind and Generous against all odds, despite any other incentive to maximise personal gain". Anyone who sees this and has any relevant reading come to mind - my DMs are open
