I have never said anything other than “beg your pardon?” or “excuse me?” or perhaps the occasional “what was that?” to my children and yet I still have to work to override the “WHAT?” that they give to me and others
What’s up with that
Ben Sasse has always been honest, but facing a terminal diagnosis he has been unplugged. Last night, in exactly 13 seconds, he explained the real reason compulsory education ever started in America.
Catholics, consider this when making choices about education for your children.
@babarganesh Most of the secretarial/Washington war partnership content could be cut. It inaccurately portrays the early war as some sort of collaboration between Washington and Hamilton. Lots of room imo
Different show obviously
It’s bizarre that Hamilton (the musical) inflates Hamilton’s early Revolutionary War importance so much but entirely omits his very real combat participation at Trenton and Princeton
@eigenrobot Feels a bit like asking why maple trees in particular shed their leaves in the fall. Economists are a species of intellectual or expert. The genera have collapsing prestige
@visakanv my 2yo understands that "happy birthday" is a nice thing to say but not when and why to say it. Yesterday Andrew said his meeting went really well. I said "yay!" and she said "happpy birthday!"
@silverarm0r@Gena_I_Gorlin periodically asks me what I would do in the event of imminent nuclear catastrophe or if something horrible befell one of our children and I have pretty worked out answers.
@silverarm0r I have some quantity of background cycles constantly contingency planning for catastrophes. It’s not distressing at all though, it’s calm and egosyntonic.
