Critical scholarship is in majority agreement that if the slave dies only after a certain amount of days the owner would go unpunished. Also, even if what you said was true: You can't legally beat someone to a pulp. Stop the whataboutism

Also this does not change the fact that this is very different from "the average american rn", so stop distracting from that.
