Amidst incessant rains across NE India, a video from Siji, Lower Siang shows a landslide carrying a biker down with it & blocking the Siji River.

A young Ladakhi gets paid to translate a book and we call an emergency meeting. Meanwhile our actual children are on needles.
You want to talk about what’s converting our youth? It isn’t a page of scripture. It’s opioids. It’s the boys peddling to pay for their own habit. It’s the underage girls nobody wants to name out loud. Hundreds of cases in a handful of months. That is the conversion destroying Ladakh, addict by addict, family by family.

Our own Buddhist Association already sits on the committees fighting this. So bring the shouting there. To the de-addiction centre. To the school gate. To the house three doors down where a mother is losing her son.

Ladakh is not dying from a translated word. It’s dying from a needle. Pick the real fight.
