Tariffs are a tax.
Not a theory. Not a talking point. A tax.
In business, when you raise costs, someone pays.
The supplier, the retailer, or the customer. Usually the customer.
The Constitution gives Congress the power to lay and collect taxes.
IEEPA does not use the word “tax.”
You can argue tariffs protect industries. They can.
You can argue they create leverage.
They have.
But let’s be clear about what they are:
A cost increase imposed by government that moves through the system.
No drama. No conspiracy.
Just economics and accountability.
@JustinBrannan You don’t understand business. They don’t make money at 75% off street price. It usually is measured off list price. And even then it is a shared cost dispersion between the manufacturer, retailer and distributors which lowers the price. Everyone takes a hit.
