As a devoted reader, I am very happy to have also contributed to it :)
🆕 Understanding self-employment in Brazil: Can people afford to search for jobs?
Today on VoxDev, @tscarelli@UniofOxford & David Margolis @PSEinfo show that material scarcity & financial constraints appear to be the main drivers of self-employment: https://t.co/OKaHrWJ9P9
Hi #EconTwitter, I am Manpreet Singh, PhD @PSEinfo . My #EconJMP analyses large renewable capacity auctions, focusing on India. I study 2 issues:
1⃣ Theory: Cost-efficiency of firms selected in India's auction.
2⃣ Empirical: Impact of efficient alternatives on public funds
🧵
Fellow social scientists, which survey questions do people use to measure political leaning? I am looking for alternatives to "who did you vote for?" or "where do you see yourself on the liberal/conservative spectrum?" Self-promotion is encouraged if you have worked on this.
We are proud to announce that 3 exceptional job market candidates, Leonard Bocquet https://t.co/uebQL1Z6S8, Frederica Meluzzi https://t.co/MRJXSkl1Sc and

VoxDev (@vox_dev) has a new post about summarising academic papers for a policy audience, by @oliverhanney. My favorite tip is on pitching research at the right level, where the action space for policymaking and the paper's external validity may overlap. https://t.co/0X8fFSiJ3n
The internet says that you get a doctoral sword when you finish your PhD in Finland. Well, when you conclude a PhD in France, you may get a giant croissant (if you have the right friends, that is). A big thank you to my friends and colleagues from @PSEinfo ♥️🥐
If you are interested in learning more about minimum wages, @attilalindner and I have a new, up-to-date review of the topic, coming out in the Handbook of Labor Economics. Here's the @nberpubs working paper.

Encouraging to see @AndresVelasco question paradigms from the Washington Consensus and propose a richer program with dynamic growth, political feasibility, state capacity, workers' empowerment, protection against volatility. Beautiful closing for @the_IDB's conference.

A teaching award, that too by @EEANews, was not something I had imagined in my wildest dreams!
Super grateful to the committee, PSE management, and especially my students who made teaching econometrics a truly enriching experience.

The meeting of the European Association of Labour Economists (@eale_sbe) starts tomorrow at the Norwegian School of Economics (@NHHnor) in the beautiful city of Bergen. I will have the pleasure of chairing the session on Digital Technology. Don't hesitate to come and say hello!
Work presented by @davidautor at the EEA-ESEM meeting argues that quantity of automation alone cannot explain its effects. Looking at which tasks are automated (simple, complex) has richer predictions for employment and wages, a new framework reshaping how we think about this.
