@IfindRetards Its honestly amazing how many lunatics think they're equipped to be mental health counselors. One would think some level of stability, not instability, would be a basic prerequisite to become qualified.
If you take being a Baptist seriously, it entails a political theology: the separation of the civil and ecclesiastical powers (but a robust social action on second-table issues) and the integrity and liberty of individual conscience (within peaceable limits).
@ReformedCaio I'm not sure I follow your post. Could you pls clarify? Bavinck is dishonest or someone claiming total depravity ontologically changes man is dishonest?
@brandon_d_smith@BaptistRenewal Gosh I can't wait to finish my doctorate so I can start pushing for this too in baptist circles (the classical stuff and techno dance parties)
@Wesley_Todd_@Pastor_Gabe Maybe he's just pointing out that y'all aren't being good brother in Christ and are making fools of yourselves in front of unbelievers...cause pastors are commanded to be well thought of by outsiders.
Unlike yours truly who reaches millions of people every day, real academics restrict their focus on publishing peer-reviewed papers that are read by at times 4 or 5 people (including the authors' moms). BTW, I'm not denigrating academic publications as I've spent 31+ years publishing such papers. BUT the idea that academics should restrict their influence to this one forum is the height of suboptimal elitism. Read chapter 1 of The Parasitic Mind wherein I discuss the anecdote with the arrogant and smug @Stanford colleague.
PSA: Pastors are not national security experts nor are they military strategists. In seminary, our practical theology professor often reminded us to not pretend to be experts in fields outside of our authority. Our jurisdiction is tied to the ministry of the word, not the world.
Research rollercoaster:
1) I know nothing about this topic.
2) After reading a few books, I know lots about this topic!
3) After read a little more, I actually know nothing about this topic!
@PastorPerks@LexhamPress It is extremely good. I wrote a review of it for BBR. You might also enjoy my articles in JTI and MidAmerica Journal of Theology on Psalm 24. 😬
