@paulkrugman Has anyone noticed the irony that they refuse to find revenue by funding the IRS to go after tax cheats, but they want to find billions of dollars through prosecuting fraudulent unemployment payments?
@BigBluBlogger@JamesFallows It hurts to hear these articles referred to as "dated." I remember these articles like yesterday. I was there and I'm not dated dammit!
@JamesFallows@damianpaletta@yabutaleb7 The frustrating thing is, we all pretty much knew this was happening at the time. But since no one would confirm it, we kinda had to play along and pretend. So many things like this foster cynicism about government.
@TheRealBoondoge@JonesForAR Wow. Do you have that wrong. He's expressing gratitude, and displaying humility at the fact that he can't take all the credit for his accomplishments. The lens thru which you read that phrase is really bent. He is actually saying the opposite of your interpretation.
@JamesFallows Not to forgive or lessen passenger responsibility, but some responsibility must be laid to the insane seat pitches that are now accepted as commonplace, making it harder for people on the edge emotionally to control themselves.
@JamesFallows You miss the even more obvious point. To him Democratic votes DON'T matter. Only the Republican votes. To him, the Democratic votes were procured by fraud. But not the Republican votes. ... In the same election. QED
@JamesFallows@EricBoehlert Yes, but: These Trump voters pushed our democracy to the edge of extinction. And a significant minority can do that to a democracy. And if that isn't understood and isn't dealt with, we ignore them at our peril.
@paulkrugman Yes. And when they have the power to govern, they choose not to: Katrina, Puerto Rico, Covid, health care, post invasion Iraq, monopolies. They aren't the party of small government; they are the party of non-government.
Hey! You can decide right now that instead of creating further chaos with holiday deliveries from big box stores and websites, you can commit to buying every single holiday gift from an indie bookstore. And if we do this, it might make a real difference! https://t.co/3FxALA8JtK
@JamesFallows@Sulliview For Trump it will be about ratings, who scored higher in a head to head contest, which is the metric he touts the most. His ideal debate: a gladiatorial contest for audience share. Content is irrelevant. The viewing voters will have spoken.
