Today is our last day of Summer Immersion 2023! We have had a packed 4-week schedule including a design studio, exploring Chicago’s sites and activities, and visiting some of Frank Lloyd Wrights’s most iconic architecture.

Today is the birthday of the American icon Frank Lloyd Wright, whose vision established the Taliesin Fellows, part of The School of Architecture's storied past. While the school has evolved, TSOA still honors his desire for fellows to live, learn, and work together.

TSOA students kicked off the first day of the summer semester studio with instructor Gideon Schwartzman, at IIT’s Crown Hall in Chicago. First-year students in their third semester have the opportunity to design a public library combined with affordable housing in Bronzeville.

The desert is a place of constant transformation, and we've enjoyed watching the augmentation of Biopod 01 into a new living building.

In the spirit of the former Taliesin migration, TSOA faculty & students packed up for a Summer semester at IIT in Chicago and a Fall semester at Cosanti. This fabulous crew put in some serious work at the end of the Spring semester. Thanks to everyone!

Biopod 02 has completed its transformation into a mushroom-growing environment. TSOA faculty Daniel Ayat, student Ryan Wenk, and others converted Sol Edelman's ('21) Biopod 01 into a "living building" that can not only sustain plant life but also encourages it.

Live from Chicago, it's TSOA! The summer session began today at Crown Hall at the IIT College of Architecture, which gives students & faculty an opportunity to hear from new voices, experience a different geography and architectural style, and yes, escape summer in the desert.
