History of The Goonies
(Konami / 1986)
The Goonies (グーニーズ) is a side-scrolling platformer developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Famicom (NES)
It’s based on the 1985 adventure film The Goonies, released shortly after the movie in Japan on February 21, 1986
It was never officially released on the standard NES cartridge in North America or Europe (unlike its sequel), though it appeared in arcades there as “Vs. The Goonies” with added two-player competitive elements. A Famicom Disk System version followed in 1988
It’s short but replayable, with a chiptune version of Cyndi Lauper’s “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” as the main theme
