Repost now for a chance to win!
This is really poor work that demonstrates very little understanding of Minnesota’s situation.
It paints a more dire picture than reality, while ignoring the actual reasons Minnesota acted the way they did. It’s not about the total money output over the life of 3 deals with varying lengths. It’s about staying under the 2nd apron to avoid repeater penalties that include moving your pick 7 years out to the end of the 1st round draft.
1.) Rudy declined his player option to give Minnesota $12m in space back this past offseason. ($47m cap hit -> $35m) it was a necessity for them to escape the 2nd apron while opening flexibility to retain players, and in return they gave Rudy an extra year on his extension most would’ve preferred not to give him.
2.) Randle is currently playing at an All-NBA level while making 20% of the cap. Most of his peers in terms of production are making 25, 30, or 35%. So let that sink in. It is currently the runaway favorite for best contract signed last offseason.
Even without the production leap, he’s a good player on a very tradable contract, but I can’t see Minnesota moving on from him anytime soon anymore.
3.) Nearly every team in the league is racing to capture Naz’s signature that that cap hit last summer. Personal tragedy and him playing out of position (He’s far better as a 4, not a 5) have impacted his effectiveness, but I do believe he’ll bounce back.
If he doesn’t, he’s a chunk salary for a future trade and there will be teams who will value playing him at his natural position.
Someone you don’t mention is Jaden McDaniels, again one of the better contracts in the league. Minnesota’s 2nd and 3rd options make a combined $55 million. Including Ant, that’s $90m ,
for your trio. Insane value, for reference:
- Jokic, Murray, Gordon: $122m
- Curry, Butler, Green: $139m
- Mitchell, Mobley, Garland: $131m
- Brunson, KAT, OG: $127m
When your core trio makes so little, you can afford to overpay for Rudy and Naz. Both of whom you can still move this upcoming offseason to shuffle the deck.
We want you to see the new patch in person!

Possible Celts quotes heading into Game 3
“We gotta establish our defensive identity from the first tip”
“Game 2 was a wake up call”
“We just gotta work harder on both ends”
Meanwhile Minnesota’s mentality is like, “We wanted to rip out their insides and piss on them.”
