where does this number come from?

Tamil Nadu has around 8 crore people in total, yet the State’s own Agricultural Census records 79.38 lakh operational holdings.

Yes, agriculture supports many more people than just cultivators. But calling 5 crore people “farmers” without a source or clear definition is misleading.

And when ₹14,000 crore budget is being discussed, getting the numbers right isn’t optional.

ஏப்ரலில் நடந்த Delimitation Bill நாடகத்தை மறந்துவிடாதீர்கள் மக்களே

2/3 பெரும்பான்மை தேவைப்பட்ட நிலையில் 352 வாக்குகள் வேண்டும்; BJP 298 வாக்குகள் மட்டுமே பெற்றதால் Bill தோல்வியடைந்தது. அப்போது #DMK இதை தங்களின் மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றியாக காட்டி, “Delimitation-ஐ தடுத்துவிட்டோம்” என்று பெரிய நாடகம் ஆடியது.

ஆனால் அப்போதே Amit Shah தெளிவாக சொன்னது என்ன? மொத்த MP seats-ஐ 50% அதிகரித்து, தமிழ்நாட்டின் 39 seats-ஐ 59 ஆக உயர்த்துவோம் என்பதுதான். அதாவது தமிழ்நாட்டின் representation percentage குறையாது என்பதையும் அப்போதே விளக்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

இப்போது தேர்தலில் தோல்வி, Congress கூட்டணி முறிவு, புதிய அரசியல் கணக்குகள் என #DMK-வுக்கு நிலைமை மாறிவிட்டது. அதனால் நேரடியாக ஆதரிக்கவும் முடியவில்லை; எதிர்க்கவும் முடியவில்லை.

“#Fair_Delimitation” என்ற புதிய நாடகம் இப்போது ஆரம்பம்.

என் கணிப்பு இதுதான்: Bill-ல் #DMK கேட்கும் சில விஷயங்கள் சேர்க்கப்பட்டால், “தமிழ்நாட்டின் நலனுக்காக” என்று சொல்லி ஆதரிக்கலாம். இல்லையென்றால் வாக்கெடுப்பிலிருந்து walk out செய்து, எதிர்ப்பது போல காட்டிக்கொண்டு Bill-க்கு தேவையான 2/3 கணக்கை BJP எட்டுவதற்கு மறைமுகமாக உதவலாம்.

22 DMK MPs-ன் வாக்குகள் இந்த கணக்கில் சாதாரணமானவை அல்ல. 298-ல் இருந்து 22 சேர்த்தால் 320. மீதமுள்ள 32 வாக்குகளுக்கான அரசியல் கணக்கை #BJP ஏற்கனவே மற்ற சிறிய கட்சிகளுடன் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தால், 2/3 பெரும்பான்மை 352-ஐ எட்டுவது சாத்தியமாகிவிடும்.

தமிழ்நாட்டுக்காக ஒரு நிலைப்பாடு என்பதல்ல இது.

#DMK-வின் நிலைப்பாடு தமிழ்நாட்டுக்காக அல்ல; DMK-வின் அரசியல் எதிர்காலத்திற்காக.

அன்று “Delimitation-ஐ வீழ்த்தினோம்” என்றார்கள். இன்று “Fair Delimitation” என்கிறார்கள்.

நாளை என்ன பேரம் பேசினார்கள் என்பதுதான் பார்க்க வேண்டியது.
