In Fort Wayne, you may become a criminal for feeding others but if you're a cop (with a history of crashes in your squad car) that hits & kills a pedestrian/local attorney with the right-of-way, you get an infraction & fined $35.

I’m grateful WANE aired this story — because it is my story.

The Body Cam shows my brother telling officers there was no contact between us.

I told them he slammed a door in my face.

They told me to let him back inside and they were going to leave. I said no — not until they dealt with the door slam. It was the second time that night my brother was physical in the house.

I even offered them a recording of him doing it, over and over.

Instead of addressing the door slam, they arrested me to get around their inability to force me to let him inside — and they left my kids with him, over my strong objection.

When I tried to question NHPD as to why I was being arrested, I was slapped with a Disorderly Conduct charge despite no neighbors being present and no interference with Police doing their job (See Price vs State of Indiana 1992).

8 months of “No, I won’t take your deal” cost me and my family thousands. I would not sign a "Pretrial Diversion" because I was not guilty, of anything.

My biggest obstacles? My own Public Defender, when I complained my biggest obstacle was — #WilliamLebrato.

Body Cam, 911 calls, and my 22-minute call with Lebrato dropping soon.
All because I dared to ask for a 911 call and wanted my Public Defender to give my recording to the Prosecutor.

The scariest part of me was seeing just how easily you can go from being a person with a clean record, to a person convicted, and the immense and enormous pressure the system in Allen County puts on you to become convicted. I believe in appropriate justice for the GUILTY. Ask Ryan Rucker if he thinks I believe Guilty people belong in Jail 😄

That being said. the "fight" in court should be FAIR and it is not fair when your biggest obstacle is your OWN ATTORNEY.

I am so thankful to the person that loaned me money to hire a private attorney. As I share this story I will detail what changed when I hired a private attorney.

Allen County’s rules treat the Defendant not as a participant in their own defense, but as a bystander. You only become an active participant when it is time to serve your sentence.

We may try to crowdsource additional transcripts from the @FreeMikeAllen second trial — but the issue runs far deeper than one case.

This is a systemic problem. I’ve seen many defendants trying to work on their own Post-Conviction Relief (PCR) from prison who are denied access to discovery by the Allen County Public Defender’s Office.

Obtaining trial transcripts is only part of the equation. To build a real appeal — especially one based on ineffective assistance of counsel — defendants need discovery materials, depositions, and other critical records.

In one case, the defendant even had a private attorney, not a public defender. Yet Judge #FranGull still barred that attorney from providing discovery to their own client, now a convicted defendant trying to prepare an appeal.

The legal reality is harsh: if issues aren’t raised at trial, they’re often waived forever, leaving defendants with a single narrow path — claiming ineffective assistance of counsel.

As seen clearly in the case of Richard Allen — and even acknowledged by SCOIN — it is far easier to get a case right the first time than to try to fix a broken one.

Did Gull hear any evidence regarding the allegations that Mr. Allen disseminated discovery before signing such an order? (I'm assuming no)😩😭

@RMproductionsX She's very lucky to have such a loving & supportive group of people surrounding her. While celebrating her win, it's important for others to recognize how many have been in her situation, factually innocent, & in prison.
