If there was ever a serious plan to lock Soto up for life then it would have been worth it, but we are impatient and threw money at any free agent who would take it (Turner, Judge, then Bogaerts). @thestevenwoods Problem is, outside of 2020 (fake season) and 2024 the offense has looked like this for 6 years. Either patient with the presumed intention of crushing mistakes only to do nothing or aggressive on off-the-plate pitching. Their approach always seems 5 steps behind the opponent

@annieheilbrunn Doesn't hurt nearly as bad as last year which felt like a humiliation ritual. Offense just did what we saw most of the year. Need to change something from the ground up when it comes to swinging a bat

@thestevenwoods This series was a microcosm of our flaws. RISP problems despite a "contact-first" approach, superstars not showing up, Arraez giving up on a grounder he might have reached base on, lifeless ABs when trailing early, no slug, etc. We didn't deserve to be there basically.

@Padres They say things like this but it's so hollow seeing how lifeless the ABs get when they trail by any amount. A billion dollar-contract players giving up on a child's stick ball game they play for 3 hours a day because they are in an early 4-nothing hole. No fight at all.
