At #TheDevelopmentRoundtable2026, the Director General reaffirmed PBORA’s statutory mandate under the PBO Act to register, regulate, facilitate and oversee Public Benefit Organizations in Kenya, while safeguarding sector integrity and public trust.
He noted that the evolving development financing landscape calls for stronger governance systems, enhanced accountability, regulatory clarity, and sustainable resource mobilization strategies.
The PBO Act establishes a progressive legal framework that promotes transparency, operational autonomy, compliance, income-generating activities, and structured partnerships — strengthening confidence, enhancing credibility, and positioning the PBO sector for long-term sustainability.
PBORA remains committed to effective implementation of the Act and working in collaboration with stakeholders.

#DidYouKnow that Youth voices matter ... especially in policy-making❓
The Taita Taveta County Youth Service Bill is a crucial step toward strengthening youth engagement, service, and empowerment at the county level. Through this process, @Youth_TJN, in partnership with KYMCA and the Taita Taveta County Assembly, had the opportunity to facilitate public participation sessions with young people, creating space for youth to:
1️⃣ Learn about the Taita Taveta County Youth Service Bill
2️⃣ Share their views about the sections of the Bill, and
3️⃣ Directly shape a policy meant for them.
This engagement reaffirmed the importance of meaningful public participation and ensuring that youth are not only beneficiaries of policy but also active contributors to it. #Youth4TaxJustice

Salary raises, cake-cutting at the workplace, team building, and allowances don’t motivate people. A healthy work environment does.
That’s why some stay despite low pay, while others walk away from big salaries. Leadership matters.
If a Christmas message doesn’t call you by name, it wasn’t written for you. You were added to a list, not held in thought. It’s a broadcast, not a message. Feel free to ignore it. Unless you are too idle and desperate. A message that matters knows who you are and says your name.
It has been a delightful Friday celebrating #Youth4TaxJustice 👌🏾

While in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪, for the #INC3, our Programs Manager Jon Kafuko represented YTJN at the Interfaith Prayer and Action for Tax Justice Convening in Nairobi.
On behalf of YTJN, he called for a UN Tax Convention that:
- Acts justly by ending secrecy and making sure the world’s wealthiest pay their fair share.
- Shows mercy by giving every country, especially in the Global South, a fair voice and a fair share.
- Walks humbly by prioritizing people and the planet over profit.
As young people, we refuse to stay silent while injustice persists. We are mobilizing, organizing, and holding leaders accountable until tax justice becomes a global reality.

📍Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪
Earlier today we had the opportunity to join colleagues from @oxfamkenya, as they launched a study on ‘Regulating #TaxIncentives for Enhanced Domestic Resource Mobilization in Kenya’.
The study:
✅ Explores different types of #taxincentives & identifies the main sectors that benefit from them.
✅ Assesses the fiscal costs associated with #taxincentives in Kenya, including their effects on revenue shortfalls, & examines the transparency in their design, governance, and implementation.
We remain committed to advancing evidence-based policy discussions and strengthening partnerships that drive #fair & #transparent fiscal systems in the EAC and SADC regions.
I came across this image at the airport & felt deeply disturbed. The airport is the entry point to Kenya, and our branding there must be accurate. Kenya’s coat of arms features two LIONS, yet the one displayed at our entry point shows Chinese DRAGONS. Attention @MakeItKenya
Is Lake Naivasha reclaiming its territory without a court order? The rains we prayed for have come, this time, carrying a warning to humankind. Quite unfortunate scene. Poleni.

The framework being shaped in Nairobi🇰🇪 has the potential to shift the balance of fiscal power, ensuring that all nations, especially those in the Global South, can mobilize resources fairly and independently.
Furthermore, these negotiations also offer a space to define the kind of world and economic system that young people will inherit.
As such, we cannot compromise on the principle of #intergenerationalequity.
