However, there can still be infinite recurring localities that are not found in sequence along a contiguous path.

I was also thinking that just because you observe one or more repetitions, there's not guarantee that the repetition continues infinitely.
@emilyst Hrmm...tesselation to me implies discrete boundaries or a regular repetition.
Travelling through an infinite universe, you can't encounter an exact repetition of that universe, just some locality of it.
So, I would have to assume an irregular distribution of repeating patterns.
