Old sunspot region 3663, the source of five X-Flares during the previous rotation is now set to turn back into view from behind the northeast limb. It remains to be seen what is left of the formerly active sunspot region and if it is still capable of noteworthy solar flares. We will get a look as we head into the weekend. The other region of even more interest would be old AR 3664, still about four days away from reaching the east limb.
THE 4TH MAJOR FLARE TODAY: Sunspot region AR3679 near the SW limb of the Sun produced its 4th M flare today. It was an M2.6 peaking at 13:20 U.T. No sign of an eruption, so probably no major CME from it. Meanwhile we have a new spot coming over the NE limb.
A large solar filament stretching more than 350,000 km is currently located across the southeast quadrant. For now it remains magnetically anchored in place, however should it become unstable and collapse, a CME would be very possible. https://t.co/aqK4Q6XLqw

FLARE OF THE DAY: An M1.6 flare from sunspot region AR3654 approaching the west limb of the Sun. The flare looks totally contained by the strong magnetic fields above this region so unlikely it produced a significant CME.
An M3.7 solar flare followed up an inital M2.5 event around AR 3654. The latest flare may have generated a weak CME. Full update via https://t.co/aqK4Q6XdAY
FLARE OF THE DAY - 2024.04.27: Another M flare, this time an M3 event, form the same region as the earlier M flare (see previous tweet). Note the size wrt the Earth.
CME WATCH - 2024.04.28: SOHO has registered 5 CMEs today but they all seem very modest. The two bright coronal streamers (SW and NW) seem to be getting larger and brighter - making them possible CME launching sites.
