Pumanaw na ang 78-anyos na jeepney driver at PISTON member na si Elmer Miralles Cordero ngayong Miyerkules, Oct. 7.

“He touched so many lives with his kindness and love… We kindly ask for your thoughts and prayers for the family during this difficult time,” mensahe sa isang social media post.

Kabilang si Tatay Elmer sa tinaguriang “Piston 6,” anim na jeepney driver ng PISTON na inaresto dahil sa pagsasagawa ng demonstration sa kasagsagan ng pandemya noong June 2020. Kalauna’y ibinasura ang mga reklamo at nakalaya ang mga tsuper.

Nakaranas ng heart attack si Tatay Elmer habang lumalahok sa transport strike ng Piston sa Caloocan City nitong nakaraang linggo.

Inatake sa puso si Tatay Elmer noong Setyembre 29 habang lumalahok sa welga ng mga drayber at komyuter laban sa oil price hike.

Nakilala si Tatay Elmer noong pandemya nang arestuhin sila ng mga pulis habang nasa protesta. Humihiling sila noon ng sapat na suporta para sa jeepney drivers at operators sa panahon ng lockdown.

Kahit maysakit, tuluy-tuloy na lumahok si Tatay Elmer sa mga welga at protesta ng mga drayber at iba't ibang sektor.
