This was a fun piece to pull together. It was such a pleasure to talk to these amazing #WomenInScience who work in all sorts of areas of research at @SickKidsNews! 👩🔬

We know kids have had more screen time during the pandemic. To understand the #mentalhealth impact, we looked at types of screen use & mental health symptoms in children and youth in Ontario during #COVID19 for @JAMANetworkOpen. Here’s what we found: https://t.co/swE4vcuRI9🧵1/11
Are there any other former retail workers out there who have the store's playlists burned into their head? Every November I am haunted by the AE Holiday 2015 soundtrack like it's some kind of annual, unbreakable curse
I got to talk to diabetes research giant Dr. Daniel Drucker for @UofTNews. He's a pioneer in gut hormone research, and now he's investigating whether the GLP-1 hormone can help treat everything from heart disease to Alzheimer's https://t.co/iusJNakaRH
Every time I hear people complain about vaccine passports, I think of the first time I had to provide end-of-life care for someone on a ventilator with COVID and how they didn't even get to say bye to their family.
That memory is all I need to know we are doing the right thing.
Not going to lie, I felt pretty left out when clinics started offering prizes and incentives for people to get their vaccine. Nice for those of us who were gung-ho to get it early to have a shot at a prize now 😆 @thisisourshotca#ThisIsOurShotCA

@SeemaMarwahaMD@UofTFamilyMed Same! I had such a positive experience with the family medicine team at @SinaiHealth. I chose it precisely because it's such a happy medium between an OB and a midwife.
I'm not a doctor, but this was my reaction as well. And while I'm here... a big part of public health is about communication. The nuts and bolts of the recommendation makes sense, but the framing was... man oh man.
Ontario’s enhanced restrictions were always intended to stop large gatherings where spread can happen.
Our regulations will be amended to allow playgrounds but gatherings outside will still be enforced. Play outside safely. Parents keep your distance & wear masks if you can’t.
"Good #science is an essential tool in the fight against the spread of #misinformation. But it also needs to be presented to the public in a sensible and respectful manner." writes @CaulfieldTim

Avoid words like alcoholic, addict, user, abuser, junkie, drunk or crackhead unless they are in quotations or names of organizations, such as Alcoholics Anonymous. Instead, choose phrasing like "he was addicted," "people with heroin addiction" or "she used drugs."
