@ericasdinardo@ladygaga Hi Erica! Lady Gaga is a great example of a celebrity and leader. You gave many examples of how she demonstrates leadership. What she does as a leader extends beyond just using her influence but trying create change and be involved in the space of many social issues.
@EmilyEat115@rihanna@ClaraLionelFdn Hi Emily! I think Rihana is a great example of a celebrity and a leader. It is clear she exhibits transformational leadership as her charity works transforms lives of many!
Her high social prestige has been built over the years now making her the most influential celebrity as said by Forbes (Page 324). https://t.co/shdBuxEaZF
@Oprah Winfrey embodies being a leader. This article from Penn State describes her has a tranfromational leader which we learned about in the begining of the semester.

She has a wide scope of fame by reaching a global audience from several cultural backgrounds. She has built merit as people look to her show to uncover stories, and experiences. (Page 324).
@KATHRYNHAAS5 Hi Kathryn! I never really thought of being shadowbanned being a moral panic but you brought up many great points! It is definitely something for influencers to feel scared of as ensuring they create engaging content is crucial to what they do!
@ANDREWM96342065 Hi Andrew! I think this was a great example of a moral panic! Your explanation highlighted how digital platforms had a hand at continuing to perpetuate fear and influence children.
As mentioned in Seymour on page 4 & 5 solutions to these problems seem extremely limited as these tech companies have become extremely successful and their isn’t an incentive for them to stop their practices.
An example of a moral panic that took place on digital platforms was #clownsighting. In 2016 there was moral pencil about dangerous clowns stalking areas such parks, forrests, and schools. #Virtual90#RutgersDCIM
I also infer that people were possibly getting increased advertisements for things to protect themselves with like pepper spray or security cameras. This would be the result of surveillance capitalism which is a monetization based off of companies tracking our activity online.
The video I subtweeted in my initial post demonstrates how gaming is influential in the lives of many people of color and females but overall among many who may not fit the "geek masculinity" definition.
The hashtag #Blackgirlsgame relates to #Gamergate because it is a community giving voice to females and people of color who are often misrepresented in the gaming community. #Virtual90#RutgersDCIM
How has gaming changed your life?
#BGGMember and Discord Moderator, Kenyeda Adams (@wolfkeeper989), discuss how games were a gateway into the fandom, creating conversations, and pushing others to join communities like #BlackGirlGamers.
Thank you @BlackWebFest for the platform!
Geek Masculinity although does empower those in the "geek culture" by dismantling stereotypes by typical bringing attention to nontraditional masculine interest ((Braithwaite 3). This community still does not encompass everyone who is affected by the gaming community.
