Their commitment to sticking to a quality product while maintaining the message of unlimited creativity seems very appealing because it shows their persistence and hard work in creating something without compromising other values
I want to do something like copywriting or technical writing. One dream opportunity I want is working at The Lego Group. Their mix of creative ability combined with simple, yet thought-provoking text really interests me and makes me want to try it. #LIDCSpring2022
In this tweet by Obama about Black History Month, he gives a simple statement that spoke a lot about how the month should be viewed. Connecting to the readings, it talked about how content made by leaders is key in how they are said, not what is said. #LIDCSpring22
a mockery of how the pods looked "delicious" but slowly turned from a joke into a serious challenge to attempt, turning the detergent and other colorful products into a fear.
An older example of a moral panic is #tidepods. It was a trend where people would compare the pods to candy or something sweet based on how it looked which led to many kids dying or getting very sick from eating them. #Virtual90#RutgersDCIM
Connecting to the reading, it talks about, "Moral panic usually isn’t wholly manufactured. It tends to be founded in a reality which it distorts." (Seymour, 2). As such, disinformation about the tide pods and its fake perception as food relates in that the joke was initially
@DanielleLazaro9 Hi Danielle, I agree that giving women a voice in the gaming community is super important. As you mentioned, there are stereotypes that put down other groups and by giving these groups a chance to voice out, it can help spread their opinions and be more accepted.
@tulsipatel_DCIM Hi Tulsi, I like that you introduced this hashtag which shines light on a group that is often misunderstood. I think the concept of making other groups feel represented and accepted is important to break down stereotypes like you mentioned.
Looking at the Games of Empire text, the author mentions, "highlight a process that has become increasingly prominent in virtual play: the mobilization of the players themselves as immaterial labor." (Dyer-Witheford & de Peuter, 2009). The context is that playerbases are willing
Especially since the game has a rather small playerbase, it is crucial that fan-made content is used to help keep the game's content fresh and changing.
@mgisinger1 Hi Michaela, I agree that people need to see these cultural outfits as more than a costume. Especially with unmarginalized groups that don't experience this, they need to put themselves in others' shoes and try to understand the meaning of this.
@MerliAndrew Hi Andrew, I agree that the hashtag has given people the opportunity to speak up and push for change. Allowing people to connect with each other across the country helped strengthen the movement and actually led to some change for the better.
This is different from an unmarginalized community because these appropriations are done in a way that stereotypes the cultures. People who dress like this are not trying to respect the culture usually and are just dressing without thinking about the implications it could have.
I wanted to look at #notyourcostume . The hashtag represents marginalized communities because it exposes people who dress up in other cultural attire, often in a mocking or offensive way. A popular example is people dressing up as Native Americans. #Virtual90#RutgersDCIM
@WadihSophia Hi Sophia, I found it interesting that this hashtag gave people the opportunity to filter things involving their local government. Given that it is used internationally, I wonder if it is difficult to filter out posts relating to your area.
@MorganBurman22 Hi Morgan, I think that the hashtag is very useful especially since it's prevalent on a platform most college-aged students know/use. By placing a community in an area that is easily accessible for this demographic, it will have more success in achieving its goal.
tweet is an act of aggression, looking at various examples of the hashtag being used shows that some people had a general misunderstanding of the hashtag's purpose.
I will be looking at the #boycottbenandJerrys which was a boycott of the ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's after the company pulled out of selling in occupied Palestinian territories. This was all part of a political issue and relates to the Boyd text.
#Virtual90#RutgersDCIM
Boyd is talking about how a certain point that becomes talked about a lot loses context and its original meaning over time and with the hashtag, there was some misunderstanding on what was happening. Ranging from beliefs that the issue stemmed from somewhere else to taking the
