My mom (56) lost her mom (88) 3 months ago. On the day of the funeral, she sat by the gate for hours. People slowly started leaving, but she stayed there. Alone. At some point it began to drizzle,& she didn’t move. No panic. No rush. Just sitting there, by herself. I ran to take her phones & asked why she was sitting in the rain. She said, “Mohlomongwe pula e tla hlatswa bohloko ba go loba bomma.”
It was at that moment I understood that no matter how old you are, nothing prepares you for losing a parent.
