Thank you to the many people who attended the #melanoma22 Summit today in-person and online. We'll be following up with post-Summit communications in the next fortnight with our attendees.
We're wrapping up the #melanoma22 Summit now. Co-Chair A/Prof Victoria Mar is presenting some final thoughts on potential improvements. Increasing local referrals, improving documentation, delivering care closer to home are some of the ideas to focus on post-Summit.
I'm not at today's #melanoma22 Victorian Tumour Summit but following with interest, in my new role as skin cancer prevention & early detection policy lead at Vic DH. Plus husband @DrJasperDeBoer leading on melanoma education at VCCC will report back!
The consumer #melanoma22 recommendations are a focus on symptoms and side effects knowledge and management, written treatment plans as per the OCP recommendation, and coordination of care between health services and to GPs. Finally, specialist nurses are much desired by patients.
We're just about to start our #melanoma22 consumer video, presented by our two patient leads. Off to a great start with a room full of participants and some of our regional friends Zooming in.
#melanoma2022 summit is opening now with an emphasis on unwarranted variations #equity and views of consumers working with clinicians. Fantastic to see in action. @tumoursummits

Please see our current newsletter featuring the Care Plus early palliative care implementation project by Prof Jenny Philip. This project was recently presented at our Pancreatic Cancer 2022 Summit, where clinicians and consumers agreed on the importance: https://t.co/EhfOGVeahE

Excited to speak about new service models to facilitate early #PalliativeCare integration for #pancreaticcancer at #pancreatic22. Innovative approaches needed to improve equitable quality care in advanced disease
Many thanks to Department of Health, Cancer Support, Treatment & Research division. To @VICStogether, clinicians, allied health & patients & carers, data analysts Ella Stuart & Norah Finn. Like MDMs, summits are a multidisciplinary effort & more effective for it! #pancreatic22
And that's a #pancreatic22 wrap! A/Prof. Charles Pilgrim is talking on MDM discussions, supportive care and palliative care, with a central point of contact as a potential way to address coordination of care. Statewide MDM discussion of complex diagnoses has also been suggested.
Coming back from our second & final brainstorming session. Lots of ideas to consider for next steps to reduce unwarranted variations in pancreatic cancer care in VIC. A summary document of the #pancreatic22 Summit will be available on https://t.co/yFSKHo2qBU next month.
