Some of these have been taken into consideration and would be looked at.

However, per The Service requesting to Birth Certificate and NIN documents, a bit of explanation would suffice here:

- The Nigerian Passport is a document of authority and identification

- We are not be wrong in doing our due diligence in ensuring that both the data on the birth certificate and NIN correspond.

- Remember also sir, that the NIN is largely a National “identifier” while the passport is one which is recognized internationally

- Hitherto, there have been cases, especially when Nigerians travel outside the country to submit certain documents and some very minute details are seen to be different from what is on the passport.

- In fact, sir, in our bid to harmonize data (which is a policy of the FGN by the way) across board very recently, we have seen cases where Nigerians have had to quickly correct either data on their international passport or NIN to be able to begin the process of renewal of their passports.

- What do we say of such situations?

- We sure bet that these category of people submitted varying birth certificates in both instances to get the various documents in question.

- These are the issues we want to eliminate totally.

- These little issues also, amongst other things, form some of the reasons why the standing of the international passport isn’t so great globally.

- You can’t be Adewale Chukwu Ahmed born 1984 on your NIN and, at the same time be Oluwasegun Ahmed Chukwu born 1985 on your passport or birth certificate.

- All data must “align” - down to the hyphens (in the case of complex names)

- So please sir, when we do ask for these documents for record purpose(s) and sighting, be rest assured that we do it in the interest of the country and in accordance with certain policy documents guiding our actions.

- We do hope this very detailed response helps.

'OUNJE EKO' FOOD MARKETS OPEN ACROSS LAGOS FROM SUNDAY

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has directed that 'Ounje Eko' food markets should commence discounted sale of food items across the five divisions of Lagos effective from Sunday, March 17, 2024.

The food items - rice, beans, gari, bread, eggs, tomatoes, pepper, among others - will be sold at 25% discount to residents.

In order to prevent sharp practices and ensure the foodstuff reaches a large number of Lagosians, a voucher system will be introduced as the pilot scheme kicks off.

Independent payment solution providers and food vendors have been identified and carefully selected to operate the process. They will also provide real-time data on the exercise for monitoring.

For the purpose of transparency, prices of the items have also been listed. A 5kg bag of rice would sell for N5,325 while 1kg goes for N1,065; 5kg bag of Beans - N6,225 while 1kg would sell for N1,245. Prices of other staple food items will also be made available through various media outlets.

The markets will be open at 27 locations in Ikeja; six in Lagos Island; nine in Ikorodu; five in Epe; and 10 in Badagry divisions.

Mr. Governor has called on all Lagosians to cooperate with the operators at the various locations, monitor the process, and provide feedback through official channels of the Lagos State Government.

I alongside the SA to the Governor on Environment, Hon. Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, the PS ODS Engr. Mahmood Adegbite, PS OES, Dr Tahjudeen Gaji and other Directors earlier today visited System 44 (Ikota) to monitor the level of enforcement done in the axis. We also visited System 156 (Orchid Estate - Ajiran - Agungi - Ikota) drainage channel to assess the level of flooding in the environment due to the recent rain.

I have also directed the immediate removal of properties built on the drainage channel and the clearing of the canal path after several months of stakeholders' engagement with the property owners who have failed to comply with the agreed plan of finding an alternative for the free flow rainwater in the area.

The Ministry of the Environment and Water, in line with Governor @jidesanwoolu THEMES+ Developmental Agenda, is reiterating our resolve for zero tolerance to environmental nuisance across the state and find a lasting solution to flooding in order to ensure a safer, cleaner, and healthier environment.

When Donald Duke was governor, you saw and heard about his legacy-defining governance in real time. The same applies to Tunde Fashola. There is a real time reference on the likes of Zulum, Sanwo-Olu, Dikko-Radda, Uba Sani et al today.

But some former governors and current governors aren’t so lucky. You won’t hear anything in real-time about their giant strides. Only about the failings and mediocrity.

You’d have to wait about a decade for a revision. Then you can verify backwards!

Then, only then can you start to believe that they were just as solid as the ones you saw and heard of in real-time. Such, I understand, is life!
