A gathering in Mogadishu has expressed support for Türkiye and commended the assistance it has given Somalia, and apologised to the Turkish government over attempts to burn the Turkish flag.
Participants recalled that Türkiye built its largest embassy anywhere in Somalia at a time when other missions had left the country, and that Turkish Airlines was the first international carrier to fly to Mogadishu when flights reached only Nairobi and Djibouti. They cited the training and equipping of Somali forces, and the construction of roads, airports and ports. Those who attempted to burn the flag were described as people who had gone wrong, and the gathering said Somali custom requires that the Turkish government be asked for forgiveness.

The Commander of the Somalia Custodian Police, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Sheikh Hassan (Hamud), has officially opened a cooking skills training programme for women inmates at Mogadishu Central Prison, aimed at equipping them with a trade they can build on after completing their sentences.
The Commander said the programme is part of the Custodian Police's work on the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates, with priority given to skills that create livelihoods, and urged participants to make full use of the training and of further courses to follow. Officers at the opening encouraged the women to seize the opportunity, describing skills as the path to self-reliance and a hopeful new life, while participants welcomed the programme, saying it offers practical skills that can help their futures. The training will combine classroom instruction with hands-on practice.

While the rest of Africa chokes industrial capital with high taxes to satisfy external debt, a new macroeconomic model is emerging. With a standard 5% tax baseline, Somalia boasts the lowest tax footprint on the continent. If matched with guaranteed security & improved ease of doing business, the nation is uniquely positioned to outcompete Asian markets and emerge as the ultimate production hub of Africa #Somalia #AfricaEconomy #Industrialization #TaxReform #FDI #Macroeconomics #SONNA
