@kiasazand@BatterseaLabour@UKLabour To what end. Local elections are not about brexit. In Wandsworth they are about getting out of Ofsted special measures for children’s services.
The Bank of England owns £800bn or so of government debt.
If it sells it now it will lose £150bn.
If it keeps it until it’s due for repayment it will lose next to nothing.
So why is it so keen to sell?
Could it be that it wants to use these losses to force austerity on the government?
This scheme is not only causing problems for households, businesses and charities in London, but elsewhere too. We should be supporting them, not clobbering them. Not shutting down opportunity and economic activty. We will only reach our environmental objectives by innovations that are affordable, possible and desirable.
@Istanbultelaviv It's showing what Israel's occupation looks like.
Fact is, when you vote for fascists because they promise to hurt other people, not you, they will eventually get around to hurting you, because they're facists, and that's what fascists do.
Are you the same guy who dropped his house building targets? Because I’m the guy who started building more council homes than the rest of England combined, exceeded your affordable homes targets & built more homes of any kind than since the 1930s. This is desperate nonsense.
Congratulations to British Gas who made record profits of £969,000,000 in six months.
That’s almost *ten times* more than last year, while millions are struggling to pay the bills.
We must end this daylight robbery and bring energy into public hands, now.
@LabourList If John McDonnell had become Chancellor, he would have made all our lives better. He would have served The Many not The Few. However, he like many underestimated the vicious sabotage and calumny of Mandelson et al. He tried to appease those whose mission it was to destroy.
NEW: John McDonnell argues that the left of the Labour Party needs to mobilise to "save" an incoming Labour government "from itself", claiming that compassion was "in limited supply" at a meeting of the party's policymaking body over the weekend: https://t.co/uLF4Wh4IUU
@JoStevensLabour@UKLabour At some point you’re going to realise nobody believes anything Sir Starmer says. He’s lied openly & obviously.
He’s a liability

British Gas profits soar by 889% to record £969m as households struggle with huge bills.
It is legalised robbery.
Profiteering = inflation = cost of living crisis.
Govt cuts real wages, does nothing to curb profiteering.
Ofgem does not protect people.

A great Irish poet and singer left us today.
She was beautiful, courageous and wore her heart on her sleeve. She was before her time.
Nothing will ever compare to Sinéad O’Connor.
Rest easy Sinéad.
