This is the last two sentences from an article I wrote with Dr Richard Hull who is a Lecturer in Philosophy at the National University of Ireland. He has spoken about “gendered ageism” for many women when it comes to receiving evidence based menopause care and treatment.

While taking HRT is always a personal choice, it is one that should be offered early to most women. Indeed, it should be recommended more often by health care practitioners given its key role in alleviating menopausal symptoms,preventing disease and promoting quality of life.

I’m joking here but emphasising non-hormonal treatment in the new @nicecomms draft menopause guidance is mad. Around 80% of women eventually suffer Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause and local vaginal estrogen brings back a state of happy, plump elasticity and fewer UTIs.

the best thing you could do would be to enable GPs to have the time to take advantage of the free training in HRT prescribing from @drlouisenewson ! CBT is not going to balance symptoms from drops in oestrogen!
