@TheStatsSaint As a saints fan, I want to know why on earth you’ve posted this tweet? Kinda embarrassing for the rest of us. It’s not even funny. Are you five years old?
@Sophthecatsmum@secondtierpod You assumed he lost his job also. No evidence of that - could be he just left of his own volition. It’s about as newsworthy as one of the ball boys leaving.
@MarkDavies67@stammer Maybe so and again I agree it was to his credit - but if it had been racist abuse the referee would have taken action whether the player dropped it or not - right?
@MarkDavies67@stammer Well I’ll educate myself on that subject. But it surprises me the ref would even be allowed to drop it if it’s considered equal to racism on a football field.
@MarkDavies67 That I do agree with you on. I am just not so sure abusing somebody for their physical appearance/speech impediment is the same level as racist abuse. The referee would not have been dissuaded from reporting the latter offence regardless of the player dropping the his complaint
@MarkDavies67 In that context it is absolutely abhorrent. Do you not think that in the context of a football match, where the heat of the moment causes young footballers to do and say things they would not dream of replicating normally, deserves to be taken into consiseration?
@MarkDavies67 Oh I see. I have to use your specific wording to convey my opinion, and if I do not then I must mean the opposite. That’s a bit of an odd attitude Mark. Are you like that in your professional world?
@MarkDavies67 It was on video. Both pretty poor behaviour if you ask me, but in the heat of a tense high pressure football match they sometimes over step 🤷
