The World Series is in Florida as the Tampa Bay Rays host the Milwaukee Brewers this week at Tropicana Field; we have an update on a new ramp opening at a critical interchange in Miami. Gas prices are holding stead, but they are way down in Pensacola, where hurricane recovery continues. A new interchange opens in Chicago as a new toll road gets built. A new toll bridge in Mobile means construction delays for folks using Interstate 10.

Gas prices in Florida and across the U.S. are warbling about as supply shocks continue to rattle their way through markets; could a road trip to St. Pete for Game 6 of the ALCS be on the agenda? Miami-Dade’s Expressway Agency has changed contractor bidding rules. Nationally, a coalition of 11 states is working on smoother interoperability and safety. A Maryland toll increase is put on hold.

🚨Watch out for the overnight closure of Florida's Turnpike in West Palm Beach this week between Jog Road and Okeechobee Boulevard (Exits 98 & 99). The southbound lanes close overnight Tuesday, then the northbound lanes close Wednesday and Thursday night. Closures start at 8 p.m. and end the following morning at 6 a.m. 🚧🚧🚧

Traffic across key toll roads in the Tampa Bay area is expected to be higher as the MLB playoffs come to Tropicana Field, where the Tampa Bay Rays are hosting the New York Yankees. There are plenty of offerings on the road in Florida in the coming week, including a pair of launches Thursday at the Kennedy Space Center, and baseball playoffs are coming to Florida, as well, with the Tampa Bay Rays going to the post season at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg next weekend. Watch out for key closures of Florida’s Turnpike in the Orlando area this week, and a closure later this week in West Palm Beach.

We checked out a few gas prices at stations across the north part of Palm Beach County, as well as the rates the American Automobile Association has been reporting, to determine where costs were highest and lowest in Florida. We also found a few stations using ethically questionable practices to attract drivers, using tactics that border on bait-and-switch price gouging.

Driving around the country just got a tad easier this week. In case you missed it, Kansas and Oklahoma have new interoperability agreements so those with a K-Tag or PikePass can now drive in more states, and those with an E-ZPass from Pennsylvania or Massachusetts, or a QuickPass or I-Pass, can now use their transponders on Kansas and Oklahoma toll roads. This is a big deal, as we step closer to true interstate compatibility.

🚨 TRAVEL ALERT! Florida's Turnpike closures in Palm Beach again, this time southbound from Okeechobee to Southern Boulevard all week; and northbound from Southern to Okeechobee on Sunday and Monday, then Jog to Okeechobee on Tuesday night. These are closures in effect from 8/30 to 9/5, for the nights and directions indicated.

Florida’s Turnpike will be closing once again this week, alternating between northbound and southbound closures in Palm Beach County. Another segment of the Polk Parkway’s new Central East extension is being shown by Florida DOT. Kansas is raising tolls on September 1st, and billing errors are showing up on the Gordie Howe International Bridge.

Florida’s Turnpike is set to close again across a span of over 60 miles; the Kilpatrick Turnpike In Oklahoma City is reopened after a brush fire forced its closure.
